People who help us by p1

For the last few weeks, primary 1 have been visited by a number of people talking about their jobs. First we met Mrs Hepburn who is a dental nurse and she told us all about how to look after our teeth and what her job involves. It was so interesting!IMG_3233 Mrs HepburnThe week after we had a visit from Chloe’s mum who is a paramedic. She and another paramedic showed us all the different tools they use, took some of our heart beats and let us try on some of their outfits. They even brought in an ambulance! It was so much fun and we found out loads!

We were then lucky enough to have a visit from Oliver’s dad who is a policeman. He came in and told us about his job as part of the traffic police. It was amazing to hear about what he does and see the flashing lights on the car! IMG_3329

Last week we had a visit from Ethan’s mum who is a radiographer. It was so cool to see all the bones on some of the x-rays she brought along! It is so clever that a big camera can see through your skin and into your bones! We learned we have 206 bones in our body! WOW!

Thank you all so much for giving us some of your time! We really appreciate it! From P1a and p1b.

Primary 1 have been busy learning about Scotland. On Monday, we got to taste shortbread, oatcakes, cheddar cheese, Tunnock’s caramel wafer, Irn Bru and Mackies haggis crisps! I think the majority of us liked Irn Bru and caramel wafers the best!!

We have also been doing lots of writing about Scottish people and places. Here are some examples of p1b’s writing about Katie Morag! We hope you enjoy our stories!!

Remembrance Day

This week in p1a we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We found out why we buy poppies and where the money goes. Miss Foote showed us the ceramic poppy display at the Tower of London and we wanted to know how long it would take for us to get there. When we looked on the map we saw how far away it was and that it would take us nearly 8 hours to drive there! We made some poppy art using our finger prints. Take a look and see how fab they are!
