P3A TVs of the Future

After learning about the inventor of the television, John Logie Baird, P3A were set the challenge of working in teams to produce a TV of the future!  They had to work collaboratively to build a 3D model and use their imagination to think of special features TVs might have in the future.  There were lots of creative ideas!

Saturday singing at M&S!

What a fantastic Saturday morning at M&S with our school choir! The store manager, Nick, said we should go down everyday until Christmas! He said that the customers and staff loved hearing and we had everybody in the store dancing about. Nicola and Georgia spoke to him and Carolyn at the end to thank them for having us and for more yummy snacks.

Thank you also to Mrs Burgon, Mrs Seawright, and Miss Bethell for coming along to support us! We also want the thank all the pupils,  parents and siblings for giving up their Saturday morning – Keeva and Demi-Leigh were great singers too!

Choir success at M&S!!

What an amazing effort from our amazing choir this morning at Marks and Spencer’s in Livingston! We had such a fun time singing to the staff and customers – one little girl in particular loved our singing! We were lucky to be given a yummy “posh” snack which helped us sing for over an hour! Here are some pictures of us enjoying our treats and singing our hearts out – Mrs Duncan enjoyed joining in with ‘Unto Us’.

A big thank you to Mrs Thomson and Mrs Roy who counted the money we raised – an astonishing £350!!

Another big thank you to Mrs Duncan and Mrs McAlpine for coming with us today!

P6 and the Out Right program

Primary 6 have been learning about the rights of refugees in the UK. We looked at the difference between refugees and migrants, and used our knowledge of civil rights to discuss how individuals or groups of people may be made to leave their home due to persecution based on their gender, religion or personal beliefs etc.

We then discussed the British Laws regarding refugees and looked at the information UNICEF have provided schools about the issues with keeping families together. UNICEF have suggested that school pupils use their voices to tell the Government what we think about the Law in our country. With this is mind we created campaign posters which we will send on to the Home Secretary. Part of their job is to look after refugees who come to the UK and we hope our posters will help to persuade them to allow families of refugees to be able to live together.

Thank you Nursery!

The Primary 6 pupils have been busy taking some of our younger pupils to the library every day. We do this to encourage everyone to read more! The Nursery pupils love when the bigger boys and girls come to visit and they made us delicious rice crispy treats (yum yum!) and a lovely card to say thank you! Now it is our turn to say thank you to them! 🙂

Bathgate Cluster Netball Champions 2016/17

Boghall netball team yesterday won the 3rd and final netball festival of the year yesterday at Simpsons Primary. They played superbly well and were a fantastic representation of the school. The team have played well all year and have won the previous 2 festivals. In addition to the the league trophy, they also won the Newland’s Day trophy. The team were extremely happy with their medals and are looking forward to taking part in the West Lothian netball festival later this month.

Primary 6 – Screen Printing Week 2!

Week 2 with Patrick, Chris, Fran and Bernie was excellent!

We looked at pictures of Street Art and discussed why some people call it Street Art while others say it is Graffiti – very interesting ideas and opinions! Bernie showed us some of his art that he creates using stencils which was very intricate and complicated to create. He also took us outside for a demonstration of how you layer the different stencils and colours to create an image – the picture he created he gifted to our class which is amazing! Next we created our own alphabet stencils and had fun experimenting with colour and shape as we layered our stencils on our own master pieces. Lastly we collaborated on a large class stencil which we will finish next week…. What a busy and fun filled day!

Screen Printing fun with Primary 6!

Primary 6 were lucky enough to be chosen to help Chris and Patrick with the design and creation of the our new church memorial garden – we don’t want to give away any secrets but we had such a fun morning screen printing with Patrick, Bernie, Fran and Chris that we had to share some of our photos! We will keep you updated with our progress each week!

Primary 6 Basketball Festival

Congratulations to the 4 teams who represented Boghall at Bathgate Academy on Tuesday. All of our teams played very competitively and we managed to win 1st and 2nd place medals! Mrs Williamson, Miss Potter and Mrs Monteith were very impressed with our sportsmanship and respect for the other schools there, despite some very difficult referee decisions. Well done Primary 6!
