Remembrance Day

This week in p1a we have been learning about Remembrance Day. We found out why we buy poppies and where the money goes. Miss Foote showed us the ceramic poppy display at the Tower of London and we wanted to know how long it would take for us to get there. When we looked on the map we saw how far away it was and that it would take us nearly 8 hours to drive there! We made some poppy art using our finger prints. Take a look and see how fab they are!

P4’s highlight of the week…

P4 voted their favourite part of this week as researching The Ancient Greek Olympics, as part of their ‘Ancient Greece’ topic.  They found out when, where and why the games first began in Greece and learned about some of the rules – for example, no women were allowed to attend!

They were then set the challenge of using their newly learned  information to design a poster advertising the Greek Olympics – photos are to follow once they are completed!

Weather Freeze Frames

In Primary 2 we have been learning about weather. We created freeze frames of different types of weather.

Thanks to staff who were at Dalguise

On behalf of the pupils who were at Dalguise and their parents, I would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Ireland, Miss Armstrong and Mrs McAlpine.  Without these staff giving up their time …. and leaving their own families for 5 days ……. this outing would not be able to happen !  We are so lucky to have staff willing to do this – thanks.

Remembrance Day

All of P7 visited the War memorial for the schools service on Tuesday 11th November at 11.00am.  It was very busy and our pupils left the crosses they had named and decorated beside the memorial.  We also got a chance to look at the memorial more closely – seeing the names that had been added recently.  Here are some photos of the visit.

All pupils learned about Poppy Day and  we have had lots of creative writing and art work happening in school.  Some photos of the P6/7 challenge are here too.
