Primary 3 Two Stars and a Wish

1st Star: We loved our class assembly on teamwork. We worked as a team to make it fabulous!

2nd Star: We really enjoyed making our portholes in art. We chose a Polar or Tropical Ocean to explore.

Wish: We would like to make our own imaginary sea animals as part of our interdisciplinary learning projects.

P1A Two stars and a wish

1st star – We have enjoyed working in our coloured groups. We get the chance to do lots of different structured activities and we all work so hard as a team!

2nd star – We have enjoyed writing this week. We have impressed Miss Napier by writing from left to right and using finger spaces.

Wish – We would like to learn more sounds next week.

P7 and 6’s Business Enterprise off to a flying start!

P7 and 6’s are extremely excited to start their  Business Enterprise. This will be running until early December. So far the children have been refreshing their knowledge of the difference between a skill and quality and discussing which ones in particular will be vital to run a successful business.

So far all pupils have been working hard, organising their business groups, choosing a business name and creating a company logo. We also created these logos online and will share with you soon.

On Monday we were lucky enough to have four former pupils visit us from Bathgate Academy. They gave us some great advice and answered our many questions! We loved having them visit us and wish we could have them help every week.

Attached is an information page for any parents looking for more information on how the Business Enterprise works. business-enterprise-information

Sharing information with you by e-mail

As part of our developments in school to communicate as effectively as possible with you we will be needing an e-mail address.

We can then send newsletters etc straight to your phones/tablets which will be much more helpful for you.

Just hand in an e-mail address through your child or e-mail the school e-mail ( wlboghall-ps@westlothian.org.uk)

Thanks for your support.

Team Jak collection

Many thanks to all those who brought gold coins to school – including the Community Wing.  Allison Barr – Jak’s mum – came to school this morning to tell the children about what the charity will do with the fantastic amount of £345 – well done everyone!

The photos show Hannah Sloan and Freya MacDonald from the Rights Respecting Group who went round the school to collect the donations.  Also the whole of the Rights Respecting group are holding all the notes that were in Team Jak’s envelope.  Allison was really delighted and says Team Jak will use the money wisely.img_1712 img_1715

Rights Respecting Schools Event 2016

The Rights Respecting Schools Group organised an information event for staff, parents and members of the community.  The purpose of the event was to inform and involve all different members of the school community about the rights work being carried out.  The pupils led the event by presenting a power point and asking questions about Children’s rights.  They went on to work alongside the adults to come up with different ways the children at Boghall Primary School get their rights in school and in the community.  Fairtrade tea, coffee and goodies were served as a special treat to those who attended.

The event was well attended and a great success!  Well done to the RRS group for all their hard work!  A big thank you to those who attended and for your positive feedback on our event.

Two stars and a Civil Rights wish!

Star – We enjoyed our debate with Miss Potter about civil rights, especially when we were talking about the pay difference between female and male professional footballers – it was also interesting to find out that most of the top hair stylists in the world are men!

Star – We really enjoyed making our Votes For Women posters and learning about the Suffragettes.

Wish – We wish we could have met and interviewed Martin Luther King, Emily Pankhurst and Rosa Parks!
