P7/6 erupt volcanoes!

P7/6 finished making their volcanoes and painted them to make them look realistic. We then completed the ‘mentos and diet coke’ challenge to make our volcanoes erupt!

A bottle of diet coke is full of carbon dioxide (the bubbles). The bubbles stay suspended in the liquid until the bottle is opened. When mentos are dropped into a bottle of diet coke, it forms lots and lots of bubbles on the surface of the cola. When all of this gas is released it forces the liquid up and out of the bottle in a giant whooshing eruption of sticky soda, just like a volcano does!

We do not recommend you try this at home without adult supervision!

Primary 7/6 were so excited to watch our volcanoes erupt! Have a look at our pictures to see what happened…

P7/6 make paper mache volcanoes!

As part of our Natural Disasters topic, P7/6 have been looking into the different parts of a volcano and researching Volcanic eruptions. We made information leaflets about the story of Pompeii and we created 3D paper mache volcanoes. We can’t wait until they dry and we get to paint them and make them erupt!IMG_4304 IMG_4305 IMG_4306 IMG_4307 IMG_4308 IMG_4309 IMG_4310 IMG_4311

Fundraiser for Rachel House, Kinross

Well done to Alistair, Amy, Megan, Emma, Amy and Kassia for organising the dress down day in school this morning.

They also sold cakes.  They were very efficient !  The amount raised was a fantastic £301.20 – this amount will be added to the amount raised tomorrow.

We hope that they have a very successful Coffee Morning and Sponsored Walk at the Church tomorrow – we hope the sun keeps shining !

People who help us by p1

For the last few weeks, primary 1 have been visited by a number of people talking about their jobs. First we met Mrs Hepburn who is a dental nurse and she told us all about how to look after our teeth and what her job involves. It was so interesting!IMG_3233 Mrs HepburnThe week after we had a visit from Chloe’s mum who is a paramedic. She and another paramedic showed us all the different tools they use, took some of our heart beats and let us try on some of their outfits. They even brought in an ambulance! It was so much fun and we found out loads!

We were then lucky enough to have a visit from Oliver’s dad who is a policeman. He came in and told us about his job as part of the traffic police. It was amazing to hear about what he does and see the flashing lights on the car! IMG_3329

Last week we had a visit from Ethan’s mum who is a radiographer. It was so cool to see all the bones on some of the x-rays she brought along! It is so clever that a big camera can see through your skin and into your bones! We learned we have 206 bones in our body! WOW!

Thank you all so much for giving us some of your time! We really appreciate it! From P1a and p1b.

Aladdin Rehearsals

Today, Primary 7, Primary 7/6 and Primary 6 performed the dress rehearsal of Aladdin Jr to the rest of the school. It was a great success and Primary 1-3 thoroughly enjoyed watching the older boys and girls on stage. They performed with such confidence and expression! We can’t wait for the real deal next week! Here are some photos of us working hard, preparing for the show…

Low Port Residential visit

What a great time the children had at Low Port, Linlithgow.  Lots of fun and new learning.

On behalf of the parents and children who attended I would like to thank the staff for agreeing to leave their families to make it all happen – without them we couldn’t offer this experience.

The children who remained in school for their alternative few days have been very busy also – cake decorating / learning how to play ukelele / being crafty etc.

We will share photos later.

Boghall Primary turns red for Red Nose Day !

What a fabulous day we had last Friday.  Many thanks to Miss Armstrong and the Pupil Council for organising our special activities.

We raised a brilliant £457 – wow !

P3 and Mrs Seawright started us off with an assembly and then we went off to have some fun.

Here are some photos from the assembly and our ‘Bake Off ‘.  Don’t the pupils look different in red !  No purple to be found. Check out our photos of the mini fun day we had in the hall. What a fun way to raise money for Comic Relief!
