Here is our blog for this week to show what we have been learning.  We hope you all have a fantastic Easter break!

In science we did an investigation using food colouring (blue and red) to see what happened when they were mixed.  Look at the beautiful colours it created!

We made silly sentences using the connective ‘but’.

For International Happiness Day we discussed and wrote about what made us happy, what we looked like when we were happy and made happiness cards for someone we care about.

Here are some of our wonderful costumes for World Book Day!

Primary 2/1, t-shirt note

Today p2/1 we all had an amazing time wearing t-shirts that we had designed for International Happiness Day.

This is a note to all parents to say – please don’t put these t-shirts straight into the wash! These designs haven’t been sealed and therefore will fade away if washed. To seal the design, place a sheet of paper over the top of the t-shirt and then press down with a hot iron.

Thank you!

P2b

We are sorry we didn’t get round to posting our blog on Friday but our classroom was being painted so we didn’t have much time to write it.

So here are some of the things we learned last week…

Maths

We revised some of our number work including place value and ordering 2 digit and 3 digit numbers. We also played some games to help us with this.

Literacy

We have been continuing to work on our handwriting and focusing on sitting our letters on the line. We did our reading in our reading groups and carried out tasks to support our understanding of reading.

We also had shared start last Tuesday where we showed our mums, dads and carers what we do in VCOP.  We had different challenge cards and had to follow the instructions to carry out the task.  This was fun as these challenge us!

In writing we wrote our ending to our stories which was very exciting.  We will rewrite these to make into our very own story booklet.

R.E

We were learning all about the Easter story and in groups we had to sequence the story in order- this was really fun!

This week is our last week and there are lots planned from the Bronze event, church service and end of term activiites in class.

We have had a really busy and exciting week! We have been practicing for our Jazzamatazz concert next week and are really excited to perform in front of our families. We have come to the end of our Victorians topic and are working in pairs to create a fact file with information about what we have learned. A museum assistant visited us with loads of amazing and real Victorian artefacts which we got to hold. As part of 30 Days of Happiness, our targets this week were to make someone laugh; meditate; do 15 minutes of exercise; and share a good memory.

Our favourite part about this week was our fantastic trip to New Lanark. We got to go on a ride called the Annie McLeod experience which was really cool. We went on a tour all around the village and even got to go inside Robert Owen’s house. We had a great time.

Today some of our parents came in to see what activities we do for VCOP. Thank you for visiting us!

On Wednesday at 11 am we will be performing at our Jazzamatazz Concert – if you can come along please fill in and return the slip handed out yesterday.

Here are some pictures from the trip to New Lanark. Enjoy the weekend!

P5 Jazzamatazz Performance 21.03.18

Primary 5 have been lucky to receive weekly input from Mike Brogan for a Jazzamatazz music workshop over this school term. As this finishes next week, we’d like to invite parents/carers to come along and share in the pupils showcasing their learning through a brief concert. This will take place in our upper hall at 11.00am on Wednesday 21st March and siblings are also invited to attend to be part of the audience. Letters with details and a returns slip to follow.

Hope to see you there!

1a’s Week

Hello again!

We welcomed parents and family to class to have a look at our VCOP work and try out some Kung-Fu punctuation. Thank you for coming to visit us. Keep looking out for this while reading this week. We’ve noticed quite a few ! and ? in our non-fiction texts we are reading at the moment.

For happiness month we shared a joke today:

When does an astronaut like to eat?    At launch time!         Ha, ha, ha! Can you think of another?

In maths, we have finished looking at symmetry for now and move on to volume. This game on Topmarks was fun!   https://www.topmarks.co.uk/symmetry/symmetry-matching

We’ve been busy in PE and thinking about being healthy and active. We’ve spotted changes in how our bodies feel after being active like faster pulse, being out of puff, needing a drink and red cheeks too. Not to mention enjoying the fun of a game or sport with friends.
