Moving On with P4A

This week we got to meet our new teacher during our school moving on session and we are all very excited to move on to Primary 5. We are especially looking forward to learning about The Victorians and some of us can’t wait for our school camp to Lowport.  Other highlights of the week for us were: continuing to learn about fractions in maths; working in groups to research and create fact-files on a chosen climate zone and playing castles in P.E. We also wrote a letter to the people at Dynamic Earth to thank them for our wonderful class trip.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Fun at Dynamic Earth!

We have had an action-packed week in primary 4a! On Tuesday, we went to Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh. We learned lots of interesting facts.
Jodie: We learned that when a crocodile catches its prey it swings it about to break it into pieces and then it can be eaten!
Shelbi: By 2060 the temperatures in all the climate zones will be higher because of global warming. Niamh: This will affect the polar climate most because the ice is going to melt and the animals do not have time to adapt which means they might die.
Ammie-Leigh. We learned about evolution and how human beings developed.
Kai: We learned that if you are bitten by a green mamba you only have half an hour to get treatment before you die.

P4A

In maths this week we have been learning about fractions and we were also lucky to have a mental maths session with Mrs Collings.

In learning across the curriculum we created an animal from either a tropical, arid or polar climate and then in writing we wrote an ode to our animal.  We produced some fantastic pieces of work!

We drew pictures to display in our windows with the Toy Story theme.  Can you see them from the playground?

Our new Head Teacher Mrs Johns came into our class to say hello.  We were all excited to meet her.

Have a great weekend in the sunshine!

P4A

We have had lots of highlights this week.

On Thursday we had our final NYCoS session where we got to vote on our favourite games from the 12 sessions and play the most popular.

We have started our new topic on climates and we have been learning about the different climate zones around the world.  We all shared our experiences of holidays in different climates.  Some of us have been to some very exotic places!

We wrote Haiku poems in writing.  A haiku is a poem which has 3 lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables.  To start with we played a fun game on the smart board to make sure we all knew how to count the syllables in words.  Some of them were really tricky but we got there in the end. We then all made our own poems which are so fantastic they are going to go up on the wall!

We all earned our full golden time this week and some of chose to make squishies (sorry parents if some of them burst and leave a floury mess on your floors).

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.
