Tom Cruise’s latest instalment to the ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise burst onto the scene this summer, shattering the box office in sales. It has been rated his most popular feature in recent times.
Tom Cruise, now aged 56, has released the 6th instalment of his iconic ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise. ‘Mission Impossible: Fallout‘ premiered early this summer, showcasing what could likely be regarded as some of his best work in the series. It intrigued its audience at every turn with its clever plot twists and the characters’ hysterical foibles.
The Stunts
Cruise and his co-star Henry Cavill [Man of Steel] are well known for performing their own stunts, but the blockbuster took this to a new level, demonstrating spectacular feats throughout the film. Many have inferred that perhaps Cruise is getting to old for his brand of non stop action, but the film has shown that it is quite to the contrary and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
The Review
Although the feature is widely acclaimed– reaching what are nearly unheard-of reviews, hailed by the majority if not all critics– it followed its almost standardised story outline, which was, without spoiling the film, the same last second; down-to-the-wire, nail biting action that all its predecessors had shared.
So, as well as its thrilling moments, it showed a deeper connection into hunt’s background, delivering a greater sense of character development which the films prior failed to do; that may in fact be the key to its tremendous success this time around.
Characters and Plot
The film revived characters from the sequels as well as bringing in a new cast; it’s like no other of the series was a continuation, following familiar characters throughout the continents running their daredevil escapades.
Sequels?
The franchise is likely to see another instalment, but as of yet there has been no confirmation of a seventh movie for the series. It is a promising future for Ethan Hunt and the rest his IMF team. So, fans and critics alike expect that Cruise will able to take on his role yet again, as he always has, and create another gripping action movie like he has before.
