“It was a magnificent spectacle and an inspiring event to feel a part of”-Daniel Everett
Mondays night’s Caritas mass commissioning St. Andrew’s and St. Bride’s High School’s pupils- along with the other Caritas candidate’s in the diocese of Motherwell- was an inspiring event.
The mass was led by Father Parkes and Bishop Toal who celebrated our enthusiasm in willingly participating in the spiritual journey of Caritas by joining us in prayer and singing hymns.
After the reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew, all Caritas pupils were asked to stand to be commissioned. Bishop Toal asked pupils to vow to join God in his work through spreading love to which all agreed. Charlotte Logan felt “moved by the declaration of faith by so many other pupils.”
Caritas pupils were then invited forward by Bishop Toal for their personal commission were each pupil was presented with a badge to mark their dedication to the award. The distribution of the badges symbolises the beginning of the Caritas journey but also marks the challenge so eagerly accepted by all pupils.
Seeing so many young faces at the Commissioning Service was moving and showed the depth of faith of the area’s young people and their desire to become closer to God by becoming more active in their parish.
We are now ready to begin our Caritas journey and with God as our help, we will.
