The ‘Slated’ trilogy was written by Terri Terry. In a world where all people who make mistakes that don’t appear silly or accidental to the Governement have their memories wiped, slated, cleaned of all memories of family, friends and occasions, everybody is under surveillance.
Kyla woke up one day, in the hospital bed. She stayed there for a couple of weeks, adapting to her new personality that loved to draw and map out the hospital. They said she don’t something terrible, but all they told her was she was a terrorist, she had no idea what her real name is or where she came from and who her family is.
When she gets placed with her new family, the family of the Government, she begins to recognise the things around her. She saw a friend in her new sister, Amy, and made connections through her sisters boyfriend, Jazz, that could potentially answer the questions her curious brain came up with.
Each slated person receives a Levo, a device that is connected to your brain and rests on your wrist. Moving it would cause serious pain. If the Levo drops down to 2 or 3, then it’ll make you black out. If it goes high, to 9 or 10 then it would cause a seizure and fry your brain causing death. Nobody removed them apart from the government.
Kyla knows she’s being lied to. She knows she’s being lied to by everyone, but she doesn’t know what it is they’re lying about. With the help of some secret and illegal computers as well as Jazz’s cousins help, Kyla has hope.
She might be able to find out who she is.
this is a book full of mystery. It has so many plot twists and disappointing/sad moments. New people come and old people go.
I recommend it to anyone who likes a heartwhelming story and wants to read about someone else trying to find out who they are.
