Aaron Comrie (pictured left) showing his class against Carlos Pena of Rangers.

Born on the 3rd of February 1997 in Dunfermline,  Aaron Comrie plays his football with St Johnstone in the top tier of Scottish football, as a right back.  At just 20 years of age he has had a colourful career so far.  After coming through the ranks with his good friend Kieran Tierney as Celtic youth players,  he was released by Celtic in 2015,  joining St Johnstone.  Following loan spells at Montrose and Peterhead,  his parent club recalled him and after making a name for himself in the under 20’s, he was called up for a place in the St Johnstone first team,  finding himself playing against the likes of Rangers and Celtic.

I was delighted to be given the opportunity to put some questions to Aaron about his career path to date. Here’s what he had to say:

Q. When did you first start playing football and who did you play for?
A. I started playing football at the age of 6 for a Glenrothes Team called Woodside Boys Club, I played with them for 3 years then I signed for Celtic FC and played with them at the Youth Academy until I was 17.
Q. Who was your footballing hero growing up?
 A.  I would have to say Zidane.
Q. How did you feel when you were selected to play on your debut for the first team at St Johnstone?
A. I was a bit shocked to be honest, because it wasn’t expected, I made it against Hamilton Accies at their stadium, I was on the bench when my team mate got injured in the third minute, I didn’t really have time to process what was happening, but I tried my best we drew 1-1 and I played 86 minutes.
Q. What has been you most memorable moment in your footballing career so far?
A. Making my first team start against Celtic at Parkhead, where we drew 1-1. I was playing against Scott Sinclair, it was a huge challenge for me playing against a player of that ability.
Q. What is the training regime like at St Johnstone?
A. We have set training days:-
Light Training on a Monday due to the game on Saturday to let us recover, Tuesdays we do double sessions, Wednesday’s are runs and gym sessions and Thursdays and Fridays are preparation for the weekends game, but its more of a fun day on the Friday with round robin games of football.
Q. What 10 players would you select for anywhere in the world as your dream team to play alongside?
A. Neuer
     Me
     Viera
     Ramos
     Boateng
     Modric
     Ronaldo
     De-Bruyne
     Harry Kane
     Messi
     Neymar
These are the players I would select to play with anywhere in the world, this is a hard one to answer because there are so many terrific players in the world.
