If you’re struggling to find a Christmas present for a well-known bookworm, here are some recommendations that Waterstones have suggested:
Crime books seem to have been selling really well in East Kilbride with biographies of TV stars for mums and sports champions are selling well for Dads.
The younger children of the family seem to be enjoying David Walliams who is the author of ‘The Midnight Gang’, ‘Mr Stink’ and many more. Jeff Kinney who is particularly enjoyed, who wrote ‘The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid’ series.
In addition, books produced by YouTubers such as Zoella and Joey Graceffa, are particularly favourable amongst teenagers.
John Green who has written ‘Paper Towns’, ‘The Fault In Our Stars’, ‘Looking For Alaska’ and many more, Sarah J Maas who has written ‘ A Court Of Thorns And Roses’ and ‘A Throne Of Glass’ and Philip Pullman who has written ‘The Dark Materials’ series and books about a dystopian society like ‘Divergent’ written by Veronica Roth and ‘The Hunger Games’ which was written by Suzanne Collins have shown considerable success with regards to sales this winter.
Humorous books are good fun for all the family and are especially entertaining to read to young children (but only if the humour is appropriate, of course!).
After speaking with an enthusiastic staff member in Waterstones, I discovered that the longer an author waits to bring out a new book, the more popular his/her old books will be. For example John Green just brought out ‘Turtles All The Way Down’, which has reinstated his old books, such as the ones previously named.
As many people have began Christmas shopping already, these book recommendations are fairly accurate – book shops now have a good sense due to how many people have pre-ordered popular books.
