With Christmas just around the corner, it’s the much loved time (although perhaps not for parents) of year with most of us trying to buy presents for family. For those of us who love buying gifts and know exactly what to buy, this time can be perfect for you, but for some of us present buying can prove to be a bit of a struggle with many having no clue where to start. For those planning to buy their dad a present this christmas, here are 5 of my ideas.
1. Vinyls
With the re-birth of vinyl’s taking place this generation, vinyls can be the perfect gift. Undoubtedly, many of our parents will have owned a record player and some vinyl, much of which now are probably sitting collecting dust somewhere but now many shops like HMV are selling both re-mastered and new albums on vinyl. At HMV there is a large sale with records starting from as little as £9.99 making a perfect ‘throwback present’ for many of our Dads
2. Star Wars
For those dads who are prone to watching some good Galactic warfare whether they be part of the Rebel Alliance or are fighting for the Galactic Empire, this Stormtrooper moulded glass is ideal. The glass mould is based on the original 1976 Stormtrooper helmet. It can be found at MenKind for only £11.99
In addition, for those fathers who aren’t as keen on our original vinyls (although perhaps after reading our vinyl club review https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/sl/oystercatcher/2017/10/11/catch-up-with-the-vinyl-club/ they will be), a perfect choice of gift would be this wonderful bluetooth speaker for £39.99 which is also from MenKind – I certainly know where I’ll be heading for my last minute shopping this year!
3. Lego
Any lego set can be the perfect gift for Dad’s as it will both keep them quite for a wee while on Christmas or Boxing Day and can be nice as a new display to have around the house. One of the best things about getting your dad lego is that there is such a wide variety of sets on the market which will suit his interests: some of these sets are focused on Star Wars, The Simpsons, E.T, Ghostbusters and that’s just naming a few! If you have more patience than I do, perhaps building this lego could prove to be a unique bonding experience… until one of you loses a piece of lego.
4. Odeon
A voucher from Odeon for tickets to the cinema can be a great present to give to your Dad as it could equally be used to take your family for a nice family night out to the cinema or perhaps even a night of peace and tranquility for just your parents.
5. PJ’s
PJ’s can make a great present for Dad’s on Christmas because as we all know brand new pyjamas and lazing about the house all day, feasting on Christmas dinner leftovers, catching up with all the Christmas special episodes on telly is the perfect way to spend Boxing Day.
