The maze Runner series, written by James Dashner, is about a group of people who are brainwashed and sent up to an arena within the centre of a maze – that changes every night.
It was completely normal to those who had been there for quite a while. Except there are no girls. It’s all boys. With great killing machines called grievers just beyond the wall, the runners of the maze risk their life in search for any way out of the dreadful place they were sent to – for no known reason.
But then ‘Thomas’ came and he decided to run beyond the wall of the maze which kept them safe, in order to save two others. The fight against grievers was dreadful but he managed to kill one. Everybody already thought he was different, but this just confirmed their suspicions.
As if that wasn’t weird enough, a girl comes up with their next load of life-saving supplies with a note. When she starts whispering Thomas’ name in her sleep and recognises him as she wakes, the residents of the maze (known as Gladers) go crazy, and the surrounding maze begins to act very strangely. Nobody knows what’s happened and have no idea if the two situations are related.
There is a movie as well as the series which does change quite a few things, such as a few certain codes and fires within the Glade. As well as this it hints at the discovery of a possible release from the maze.
I suggest reading the books then watching the movie to get a better picture and sense of the surroundings before jumping straight into the movie, as the scenarios have changed and people are replaced.
