As we start off our fourth week back at school, The Oystercatcher sees clubs and activities starting back up, and even new clubs!
But there was one that caught our eye: netball. Journalists from The Oystercatcher are lucky enough to participate. Here we go: this is what happened when the netballers hit the court.
As Wednesday the 2nd of September approached people started to become eager and anxious to show off their talent to the P.E. teacher Miss Martin as she held the S1 Netball try-outs. Around 30-40 girls turned up to try and show all their talent and try and reach the standard of the netball team. Games Hall 1 is a bit on the big size, so these girls including us ran up and down the court desperate to impress. A few talented girls got through the tough process. Miss Martin was not alone when choosing the team; she had help from some of the great netball players already in the team. We spoke to one of the girls who was successful and asked her some questions here are the answers we got:
We asked how you felt when you were told that you were chosen to be on the team:
She said: “She could barely believe her eyes” and this was “out of this world.”
We then asked if she was looking forward to start training:
She told us “She could barely contain her excitement “ and “she was so overjoyed.“
We would like to give huge congratulations to all the girls who got in, and well done to the girls that sadly did not quite make it.
