Jupiter Artland

P1-P7 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Jupiter Artland. We explored the grounds and spoke about various pieces of artwork. Afterwards, we walked in the forest and thought about different words we could use in our stories. We will be using the art pieces as stimuli in our own writing back in school.

Parent Council Community Fun Day

Saturday 26th March was a very exciting day in the village of Crawford- it was the long awaited Community Fun Day organised by the Parent Council.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and the weather brought lots of people out for this great fun day. Children and adults were able to enjoy the Pump Track, the Silent Disco and the Crazy Golf. Bonnie’s Face painting was a huge hit too.

Refreshments were served in the Village Hall and there was a great spread of sandwiches, biscuits and cakes. £101.28 was donated to the school for refreshments. That was a lovely surprise. Thank you to everyone who donated.

The activities were captured on the 3 GO Pros purchased for the school. We will have lots of fun using them in the future too.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day such a success. It was wonderful!

Reading Eggs

We have just started a subscription with Reading Eggs. The pupils in P4-7 enjoyed their first session on it and are excited to do lots more reading and learning on the website. The pupils are able to log in at  home too. They evaluated their first session.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to everyone who sent donations for Ukraine in to the school on Monday 14th March.

We are delighted with the generosity of parents, staff and villagers. The pupils were very excited to load up the trolley and by late afternoon it was full and overflowing.

Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Period Poverty

Period Positive South Lanarkshire

South Lanarkshire Council has been consulting  young people on the use of free Period Products in schools. Results of this consultation will be shared  in the coming months.

Outside of schools, residents of South Lanarkshire have been able to order Period Products online which are then delivered to their homes.  Products are also available free of charge in every South Lanarkshire building.

Our P6/7 girls completed this survey about the service provided in primary schools. South Lanarkshire Council would appreciate if parents and family members could also complete the survey.

Beyond the Panda

P4-7 are working hard on the Beyond the Panda topic with Sandie. This week was the last session and the pupils learned about tea ceremonies in China. They are very excited to learn that Sandie will visit the school on Tuesday 10th May. We are all looking forward to meeting her face to face after  a session of online lessons.

World Book Day

This week we have been celebrating World Book Day. All pupils received a book token and are hoping to spend them very soon. We listened to a talk by Oliver Jeffers who showed the pupils how to draw the characters in his new book The Hueys. He then told his story “Stuck” and illustrated it as he told it. We all enjoyed this talk and are looking forward to enjoying more on Scottish Book Trust’s Author Live website.

We have also listened to a Happy World Book Day message from author of “Varjak’s Paw” S.F. Said.

To celebrate reading for pleasure we have been wearing “Ask me what I am reading” badges to encourage chatting about books.
