Star Pupils

Every week the staff choose a star pupil. This is someone who has achieved something special that week.hey receive a badge, a certificate and are allowed to look after the wise owl for the week.

Art

P2-7 have been investigating dragonflies and hope to encourage them into the school grounds by adding water features.

They designed their own dragonflies using the visual elements of line, shape, pattern and colour.

Literacy work

P5-7 have started swimming lessons at Coalburn Pool on Wednesday mornings.

P2-4 are enjoying the Literacy work they are completing when the older pupils are away.

Visit from local artist Cherry Spencer

Local artist Cherry Spencer visited school on Tuesday 23rd August.

She told the pupils of her background and the different job she has done over the years.

She explained the art technique she uses on silk. The other resources required are rusty bits of metal, vinegar and tea bags! Cherry demonstrated the technique and the pupils were able to see many examples of Cherry’s art.

It was a really interesting afternoon and all pupils enjoyed the visit.

Thank you Cherry!

Time Capsule

In June 2022 we buried a time capsule to be opened in 10 year’s time. Our P7 pupil Rebecca buried it with her Mum Louise.

This week the P7 prefects added a plaque to mark the spot alongside the rose bush we planted in June.

Prefects for session 2022- 23

Our prefects this session are Courtney, Ellie, Sophie and Eshani.

We know they will be a great help around the school and a great example to the younger children.

The girls have created a noticeboard to provide information to the other pupils.

Have a great year in post girls!
