Outdoor Learning!

  • P1-P7 loved their outdoor learning afternoon! We created pictures in a group, using different flowers and leaves. Then we made flags to celebrate the Jubilee! 🌸🌾🌿

Open Afternoon for Parents

Tuesday 24th May was an exciting day for staff and pupils as the parents were invited to our open afternoon. This was the first time the parents have been in school for a long time.

The pupils acted as tour guides and showed their families around the school. Parents were able to see their class work and to look at the lovely displays around the school.

The children were also encouraged to do a paired reading session with their parents, so that the parents could see what the pupils do in these sessions.

The afternoon was a great success and it was lovely to see the pupils so proud of their work and their school.

A huge thank you to everyone for coming along on the day.

P7 Transition Days at Wiston Lodge

The P7s from the small schools all got together at Wiston Lodge this week as part of their transition to Biggar High. Rebecca went along every day and got to try lots of activities including drumming, canoeing, firemaking and high ropes. She met lots of new people and is now looking forward to her 3 days at Biggar High School in June.

Reading Schools

Last week we received our award from Scottish Book Trust for our Reading Schools Silver award. We were also given a window sticker and a certificate. We were very excited to put these on display in our school.

Branston the Bear arrived in school and wishes to become famous. The pupils are learning about the history of film and film making. In groups they are investigating 5 big questions are and are creating a wall display to show their findings.#

They are also making films with Branston the Bear as the star. What fun the pupils are having.

These films will be shown at a special awards ceremony in June. More details will follow nearer the time.

Branston is going home with people at the weekend and is taking parts in lots of adventures. The pupils are filling in a diary of the fun they are having with him.

Beyond the Panda

On May 10th Sandie Robb, who led the Beyond the Panda lessons, visited us in person. She had a variety of activities for P4-7 to do and they  had a great time. The pupils enjoyed meeting her and were able to ask her lots of questions about her job. She gave some great careers advice too.
