Under the Water

One day they was a dog called Bob that was in the woods he smelt perfume of beautiful flowers. He walked until SNAP! It was a dry twig. Bob was scared. He walked a bit more. He saw the sea he went in a boat. Then an octopus came along and crashed the boat. Then a mermaid came along in the distances “Jump on my back” said the mermaid. So Bob jumped on her back. The mermaid took him underwater.  “I am going to take you underwater” said the mermaid. It had treasure and diamonds. It had lots of mermaids. Bob did not like swimming but he wanted some of the diamonds and treasure. He saw an underwater cafe that had air. But the mermaid wanted to show him something else under the water. He found an old boat that was rough and it sunk. “Who lives in this boat?” said Bob “I live in here” said the mermaid. “Come inside” said the mermaid. The dog saw a statue it was a carving of the mermaid’s dad. The mermaid touched him he came alive. “Hi” said the mermaid. This is Bob said the mermaid. “Hi” said Bob. So the mermaid and Bob went too. He saw the octopus in the café eating a cheesy burger. Bob told the mermaid that they would both be friends. “Bye” said the dog so he went to run back to the forest the mermaid watched him go. So he went through the forest.

Mia’s Enchansia

There was a dog named Misty. She was always finding ways to keep clean. Every step she took, she led a trail of silver, shimmering, glitter. That’s how people could tell where she had been. Her coat was the most beautiful thing; shiny, gold, priceless. She went for a gentle walk and found herself on an old, yet full of life, looking beach. There were lots of wood and seaweed washed up from the wavy sea. The fresh air from the sea smelled wonderful. She found a painted boat with paddles and thought she could have a go at making shu shi (even though he had never done it before). The paddles were multi-coloured and were a bit too long for the dog. He left the noisy beach and paddled away. When he got going there was a big storm, there was a whirlpool forming, thunder and lightning, blasts of wind…. but then, all that stopped. In-front of the boat there swam a mermaid called Jessica. Her hair was a lovely pink, her scales on her tail were glimmering in the sun and she had a beautiful singing voice. She said as softly as ever,

“Jump in the water, I will show you a special underwater kingdom for mermaids and mermen”.

“Misty said No, my coat will get all wet and I can’t breathe underwater!”

“Well if you eat this leaf of the plant of magic then you can breathe underwater.”

“I can’t. Can you smell my magic?  See the glitter, feel my coat? Do you recognise me? I am Enchansia, Zamzar’s puppy but Misty’s my nickname. I can’t go because if I did, my magic would turn black”.

“No I cannot accept that, I was sent here by the ocean rulers to get you down here. They need you, we all need you”. If you don’t come I will put a curse on you.

“I will come and risk getting itchy skin and my magic safe.” So she did. She leapt out the boat, ate the leaf and sank. She swam as far down as she could and then she reached an underwater water kingdom. She saw lots of hidden treasure, ruby, diamond and emerald jewels, treasure chests and big diamond castles. It felt like she was having a dream. Misty lost Jessica on the way but found her standing next to a merman that looked like the king. He said with a very strong voice “WHAT IS THIS DOG DOING HERE?” Misty looked confused, she was invited and almost forced to come. She couldn’t refuse so why was he cross. Jessica said “She followed me here father, I told her not to but she didn’t listen” Misty was trying to swim up to the surface but the bad magic was inside her. She had some dust so she splashed it over her and swam fast because the dust might run out. She got up to the boat and rowed back to shore. Misty’s friend Whiskers was looking for cats at the shore and spotted Misty. He took her to her home and helped her to recover.

LOOK,CAPTURE,CREATE Rovers Tale of the Sea

Rovers Tale of the Sea

One spooky stormy night, a dog called Rover, who was black and white and had a red collar,  was walking into and deep dark forest. He heard things like twit two wooo, dooo nooooot eeeeenter. He heard twigs and leaves crunching under his paws then he suddenly started smelling a smoky smell. There was a moments silence then suddenly heard a BANG! He jamp with fear and then he ran to the beach, he found a boat which was covered with fish blood, it stank but anyway he pushed it out to sea and jamp in the boat. Meanwhile, under the water, an octopus was making the water rough then suddenly Rover heard a voice calling, “Help me!” that voice belonged to a mermaid called Layla, she had blonde flowing hair, blue eyes and a sparkly rainbow tail. He rowed over to her in the dinghy.

He let her into the boat but since she was a mermaid he had to keep scooping sea water to make her comfortable, that was making  the boat  heavy. Suddenly, they heard  a slam and the boat started to rock. Layla said, “It is the strongest creature in the world, an octopus.” The boat sank. Layla said, “ Hold onto me so then you can breathe under water.” so they swam. They could hear the octopus gaining on them, then they  swam through a magical portal and just as the octopus  was about to swim through the portal it closed.  They heard a loud SLAM! Then they saw the octopus lying unconscious on the bottom of the sea.

The magical portal lead to a land full of treasure boxes and in them were bunches of gold, silver, rubies and emeralds; every precious stone you can think of. Then they saw an Emerald Castle it was beautiful and it glistened in the sunlight. Then suddenly a merman called King Triton swam out of the castle holding a gold collar   and a gold tiara with a large emerald surrounded by lots of topaz stones. It also glistened in the sunlight. Finally he spoke, he announced, “Three cheers for the dog that brings back my little princess, Hip hip hurray, hip hip hurray, hip hip hurray!” then Layla shouted out with glee “Daddy!” Rover was confused. Were they meaning him? Suddenly, King Triton beckoned Layla. (Which Rover now knows is King Triton’s daughter.)  Then Triton whispered in his daughters ear, “ Go present that dog with this gold collar then meet me in the main hall, I have  a surprise for that dog.”

So that is what Layla did I got a gold collar and she got the gold tiara; turns out she is the princess of the ocean.  The surprise was  to live under the ocean and I also got asked if I wanted my photo taken  so then they  could make statue of me and then write Rover the hero dog and of course I said yes.

Now I am the royal dog of the ocean. I can also breathe under water; turns out the gold collar helps me breathe under water and I even have my own doggy throne. Layla and her little triplet sisters Lauren, Louisa and Lizzie play with me a lot. Lizzie is the smallest, has brown straight hair with pigtails, she had hazel eyes and a smooth red and blue spotty tail. Louisa was the second youngest she had red wild hair, green eyes and a green and yellow stripy tail. Lauren has jet black hair, bluish greenish eyes and a pink and purple starry tail.

Still me and Layla and sometimes Lauren joins in. We go up to the surface and sometimes I find makeup and accessories that belonged to humans and I give it to Layla.  Once in a while I like to have a short stroll on the beach. Once Layla even convinced her dad to give her legs just so she could explore too. But now Layla is a lot older and she married to a merman called John who has brown hair and hazel eyes and an orange tail. They had two children called Bob and Ella.

Ella has dark blonde hair which is dip dyed violet. Ella has blue eyes and freckles and she is 14; her tail is blue with big dots of glitter. Bob has black hair he has a bright green tail he has geeky glasses and he is 10. I go and visit Layla a lot but sometimes Ella has her friends over for the night. Sometimes I try to leave but Ella always grabs me and tickles me. She also holds me still while her friends cover me in makeup then Layla comes up to her room and then she takes me down stairs and takes the makeup out of my fur. When Ella and her friends fall asleep she takes me home and then it happens all over again. Sometimes I don’t actually go home because sometimes it is to stormy so I hide under Layla bed until she knows it’s safe to go home.  Sometimes Ella is still awake so I hide to avoid being covered in makeup; don’t tell Ella!

Jake’s Scary Forest Adventure By Melissa

One scary night, Jake the dog went into the spooky forest. Jake can hear a “Shhhhhhhhh” sound. Jake smelled a rotten daisy and a dead fish. Jake saw a beach with a blue and rusty boat. The octopus came up out of the sea water. The octopus smashed the boat. Jake looked at the boat to see if there were any holes. Jake saw a mermaid out of the water. The mermaid asked “HELP ME!” so Jake helped her. Jake told the mermaid “I will get a bucket of water.” Jake asked “Can you help me fix the hole in the boat?” “Ok” said the mermaid. So the mermaid and Jake fixed the hole in the boat. “Let’s go on an adventure.” said the mermaid.

The mermaid said “My name is Jessie.”

Jake felt scared going into the boat. Jake got the bucket of water and Jake chucked the water to Jessie. The octopus came to see if there were any old boats to smash. Jake and Jessie went into a big dark forest. Jake was terrified that anything went wrong. Jake walked and he walked it was a magical forest. Jake got small that everything was big. Jake ran to the boat he tried to get up but the boat was too big. He was too small.

The octopus saw Jake in the rough sand and the octopus came closer and closer then the octopus splat his slime. Jake was covered with slime. Jake shouted “Jessie!”

Jake and Jessie walked back to the magical forest and turned back to his normal size.

One blue moon in a gloomy forest there were dry sticks lying on the ground. The trees had scary faces on them. Just then a dog jamp out of the trees and landed on a twig, the sound it made was SNAP! He ran out of the forest onto the beach, he could hear a noise that sounded like splash and then again splash so he ran to the sound. It was an octopus splashing the water. In the distance he could see a mermaid on a rock. The dog jamp into a brown, wooden boat that was on the beach. He pushed the boat into the sea and rowed away to the mermaid. The sea was bumpy, rough and there were lots of bits of drift wood but the dog got there after all. The mermaid said I know where there is an underwater kingdom. The dog said I can’t breathe under water, the mermaid giggled she said “of course you can” the dog shacked his head. The mermaid said hold my hand then you can breathe.  So they went under water the dog could see the kingdom they were mermaids and mermen he could fell slime seaweed the seaweed was riling. Were a village and a castle in the castle they were a king the king the king shouted out load to the dog. The king said go to the dungeon.  Then he claimed his voice. The dungeon had mossy bits on the walls, there was an old mermen. Nielanell’s

We went to a shop called Nielanell’s in Hoswick. Two people called Neila and Minty worked there. Neila was the main person. She showed us what inspired her to make jumpers and shawls and that was animal print, like an elephants ear, crocodile skin effect, snake skin and fish scales. Neila put the crocodile print shawl on Melissa it was red and a grayish colour. Minty put on the elephants ear shawl. They were quite colourful. We saw all different kinds of sheep wool. Neila had a spinning wheel from New Zealand, the difference is that the New Zealand one can take in ribbon and beads to make really interesting wool.

On 19/06/13 we went to the knitwear factory which is in Hoswick the factory  is called Laurence J Smith  (Laurence Odie knitwear. )  On the way we passed  Tingwall and Voe then we went through Sandwick. I loved the journey and enjoyed discovering jack jack stick on your back at the beach  ( which is a plant that sticks to your hair and clothes it is so sticky) We spent most of our time at the jumper factory and it was so cool. There were lots of machines that were huge. We went upstairs in the factory and saw Sarah designing jumpers on the computers, she made us a panel that had Burravoe School on it and then Jennifer got a copy for each of us. We went into the shop. Most  of the  jumpers went to Japan and America. I liked looking at the Viking dummy, it was fascinating .

Nielanell’s

We went on a school trip and one of the things we did was we went in a shop called Nielanell’s. There were two ladies working there, one called Minty and the other one called Niela. They are partners. They knit and spin. They make fabrics based on an animals or animal skin. It is in Hoswick. It is a small shop. They spin their own wool and some of it is multi-coloured. Niela and Minty use crocodile skin, an elephant’s ear, snake’s back, fish scales and bird feathers as inspiration. I learned that there are hundreds of types of wool from hundreds of types of sheep. It was very interesting. I liked when we watched her spin and also when she showed us what work she had done. It was amazing work. I really enjoyed it.

Edinburgh Trip Part 1

I went on the Edinburgh trip (which happens every 2 years for P6 and P7) I am the only P6 and there is no P7. Me and Jennifer went from Burravoe. We went on the trip with P6s and P7s from Mid Yell, Cullivoe, Fetlar, Nesting and Unst. We go for 1 week; you have to take 1 overnight bag (for the ferry) and 1 big bag (when staying in the hostel in Edinburgh!)

Sunday

On Sunday; I caught the Ulsta ferry with the other schools; I sat by a girl called Christina from Cullivoe.  When we got to Lerwick (which is over an hour away from Yell) we headed to the Northlink Ferry Port. We took our ferry bags into the waiting room; in the waiting room we got given our boarding cards to let us on the ferry and into our rooms. Then we boarded the ferry, My room number was 424, I shared with 3 girls; 1 from Cullivoe and the other 2 from Mid Yell, I have met them all before because we go to Mid Yell every Thursday for P.E with Cullivoe and I go to netball tournaments and I have met some Mid Yell people. Me and my friends had dinner on the boat; I had chips. After dinner we asked one of the teachers on the trip to take me and my friends outside. When we got back in the cabin it was 8.00 and we had to be in bed at 9.30; at 9.30 we have to give in our phones to our group leaders (My group leader was Jennifer!) That night the sea was really calm!

Monday

We drove through Aberdeen (where the ferry comes in) It was quite early in the morning; we watched Pirates in the bus as we were travelling down towards Stirling. In Stirling we went to see the Wallace Monument, the Wallace Monument is a very tall building. We had to walk through a small wood to the monument, it was quite steep pathways. When we got to the top of where the Monument stood you could see the whole of Stirling in front of you. We walked up the spiral staircase up to each floor which had galleries on them. On one of the floors were models of people who were like queens and kings. The top floor had the most AMAZING views of Stirling, from the top it looked like the buildings were flat; it was quite windy up there!  We went to Toby Carvery; it was a buffet, I had a massive Yorkshire Puddings, and some chicken.

Then we drove to Edinburgh and put our suitcases in the hostel; we put our suitcases in our room, I shared with Freya, Christina and Ashley (who shared a cabin with me on the boat) we also shared a room with Eden, Theresa and Sophie. My room number was 217, our room had 8 beds but there were only 7 of us. After a couple of hours we went to the cinema and watched Epic, It was really good. When we got back it was about 9 o’clock; so we gave in our phones and went to sleep, it was quite noisy because there were fire engines and police cars zooming past.
