The Best Trip Ever!

Yesterday everyone but Mia, Bradley and Sonia went to the queens baton relay and they came to celebrate in Brae. First Jenifer said i’ll take Phoebe, Kerry and Emer in my car. Miss Breyley took Charlotte , Honor and Rosie. We all went to Ulsta and we all went in the bus stop Melissa, Leah and Neil came next and they came in the bus stop and we tried to get on the bench but it was for some of us it was too slippy and for some of us it was too tall and too slippy. Then Abby came in her dad’s pick up and we all sat in the bus stop until the Culivoe ones came in the bus. We went as foot passengers on the ferry and we went upstairs and it was somebody’s birthday and they sung happy birthday in 8 different languages. When we got to Brae we went on the hockey pitch and we got two footballs and Melissa, Kerry and I were on team Mexico and I was cheering Mexico, Mexico, lets go Mexico. First in the activities I did common wealth crafts and everyone in common wealth crafts made banners and either got their hand painted or their face painted and the face painters painted a flag. When common wealth crafts finished then I went to the mini beast hunt and my friend Erin from Brae school pared up with me and we found millions of mini beasts. We sung a song called Hears to all our common wealth. We all had a great day and when we got on the ferry we were all so tiered.

The Fish Talker

The Fish Talker

Once there was a little Fish called Splashy. She was a very brave smolt later in the story you will find out why. She lived with a mermaid. The mermaid’s name was Seastar. She had red hair and a blue tail. She was really mean. She was mean because Splashy was a pet she got for her birthday. But she didn’t like pets so she treated Splashy really mean. She only fed him once a week and made him sleep outside in some seaweed. One day when Seastar took Splashy for a walk, she bumped into a friend. When Seastar was talking to her friend Splashy managed to break off her lead. Splashy swam up to the surface. She popped her head up out of the water. It was misty. Splashy couldn’t see a thing but she could see a big bright light so she decided to follow it.  As she went closer to the light it got brighter and brighter then BANG! Splashy had bumped her head on a boat. The fisherman that was on the boat had seen Splashy and took it out of the sea and put it in a bucket of water. When Splashy woke up she found herself on a boat. The fisherman put on a watch so he could talk to Splashy then he said to Splashy what’s wrong you look sad then Splashy Said I swam away from home because my owner is mean to me the fisherman said I think I can fix that. So the fisherman put on a diving soot and went under the sea with Splashy. When they got to Seastar’s house the fisherman hypnotised Seastar so that she would be nice to Splashy and never be mean to her ever again.

Queen’s Baton Relay

On Tuesday the 24th June we went to Brae to see the Baton. We went on the astro turf for Danny to give  us our  instructions. Danny is the man who organised most of this event. We went to Brae for activities. My activities were commonwealth crafts that was on from 11:3o – 12:30 AM in the secondary art room, which were making banners to hold up when the Baton came , and we got our faces or hands painted with the Shetland flag. Then we went to the Brae school trees to a mini beast hunt with Mr Rose. We did that from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. At the mini beast hunt we used Pooters to catch up the little bugs. Pooters are  little pots with two tubes coming out the lid, one tube has a black stopper, next you line up the other tube and suck on the one with the stopper and then the bug falls in to the container. Then we went back to the astro turf for the rest of our instructions. Next we had to walk to our places we had to walk to the little co-op. The baton came on the Aith life boat. Then when the life boat came in then the police came to shut the road, then the people who were carrying the baton came jogging by us. Then we had to walk back to the astro turf to sing to the baton. The song we had to sing to the baton was Here’s to all our Commonwealth and if we wanted to then we could also do it in sign language. We also met Clyde he is a big thistle that represents the Commonwealth games. He walked around but he could not see where he was going so he walked around with a lady who told him where to go. Then we got a photo with Clare Morris who held the baton. It was a great day, I really enjoyed it!

The Swan in Shetland

\We went on the Swan. First it was the little ones who went on the swan for a shorter run than the older ones. They put up the sails. When they got back then the crew came for lunch and it was spaghetti. After lunch was done they walked back to the pier and we went by car. We had to climb over the Norholm to get on the Swan. We went to the main saloon first to have a speak about what happened on the swan. The saloon used to be full of fish most of the time. Under the table was food. The rope was there but we didn’t pull it. Then we went to the top and off we went. After we were gong by the engine for a while then we put up the sails. We had to out in a lot of effort in doing it. We then had to put the sails back down and when we got in I stayed on the Norholm with Dad and Bradley.

The Day On The Swan

Yesterday we went on the Swan. When we got to school we put sun cream on and we put on our jackets and we set of to the pier that’s were the Swan was. When we got to the pier we had to climb across the Norholm when we were standing on the Norholm we put our life jackets on then we climbed aboard the Swan.  The first thing we did when we got on the Swan was we went down below and every body got a go at pulling the pulley. When you pull the pulley you open up a secret cupboard under the table. In the cupboard there was biscuits so we had biscuits and juice. Afterwards we had to squish in one tiny bunk bed  and we could all fit accept Sonias legs stuck out.  Then we went up top and we put up the sail some people have to pull one rope and some people have to pull another rope. Then we had to tuck the rope away so no one tripped. Then we heard a noise it was the engine we were sailing away we all got a turn at steering but Rosie got to sail us home when we got back we got of the swan and on to the  Norholm when we went on the pier we took our life jackets of we went in Ms.Breyley and Jennifers car and went to the school. I enjoyed the day on the Swan.

The Swan Trip

Yesterday we went to the Swan. The first thing was to put the lifejackets on because we might fall into the sea. We went on the Norholm because the Swan was next to the Norholm. We  walked to the steps to across the Swan. We went downstairs to the Saloon. We had go backwards down the stairs to the saloon.  Where Rory talked about the history about the Swan. When we had a long talk we went back upstairs and sit down. We pulled the first sail was the Boom and the Jib. We saw the island called greenholm. The Skippers are Rory and Scott and the volunteer was Eilish. Everyone got a turn of doing coiling. The weather was cold and windy. Scott turned the enjin off. Everyone got a turn of steering the Swan.  I steered the Swan coming to Burravoe pier.
