P7/6 Term 1

Our teacher this year is Miss Baillie and we have 18 pupils in our class. We also have Mr Woods, Mrs Robertson and Mrs Eaglesham supporting our class throughout the week.

Our P.E. days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have been working on our basketball and tennis skills. Our class have also started working towards our Junior Coaching Award.

We have outdoor learning every second Thursday. We have been helping to tidy up the playground by weeding, painting and digging to set up new playground apparatus.

This term our topic is the Scottish Parliament. We are very excited about going on a class trip to visit the parliament in December!

Our Talk for Writing unit this term is the warning story ‘The Canal’. We have been building upon our speech marks skills, adverbials and using similes and metaphors in our writing.

In numeracy and maths, we have been focussing on bar modelling (using concrete, pictorial and abstract methods) and angles.

P7/6 braved the weather and had a brilliant ACE day! We even spotted some seals! We spent the morning coasteering and then some fun team building activities back at the centre. Miss Baillie was so impressed with the team work she witnessed! Everyone helped and encouraged each another along the way. I am so proud of each and every one of you for pushing yourself. Well done P7/6!

Keep an eye out for all the fun we are going to get up to in Term 2!

P7/6 – Term 4

I cannot believe we are in our final term already – time has flown in! We are looking forward to a busy term in P7/6 and preparing for our future in Primary 7 and academy!

This term, we have been extremely busy preparing for our school show ‘Rock Bottom’. Children put in a lot of time and effort in order to perfect lines, delivery, singing, dancing, sound, lighting, props, backdrops etc! They did an excellent job and we are all so proud of them.

Our Talk for Writing unit this term is ‘Gadgets’. We are focusing upon persuasive writing techniques. The children started off by trying to persuade Mrs Morrison to get rid of school uniform!

In numeracy, we are focussing upon our division strategies. We are encouraging the use of CPA approaches (concentre, pictorial and abstract). In maths, we are building upon our knowledge of ‘measure’.

We baked cakes for a special coronation themed cake sale. This was part of our Make £5 Grow project. The children looked at costs of what we would need for our cake sale and we worked out selling prices to ensure we would make a profit. This combined with our previous sales at the Easter service means our total raised so far is over £100! The children will be involved in deciding how the money is spent.

We are continuing our weekly outdoor learning sessions on Fridays. Children have been learning how to safely build fires, taking part in team activities, helping to clean up our village and there is lots of time to play and have fun (climbing trees is one of our favourite things to do!)

In PE, we have been working on our athletics skills in preparation for sports day. The children are taking part in inter-house competitions including rounders, football, basketball, cross country running, javelin and long jump.

Thanks,

Miss Baillie

Dolphin House 2022

P7/6 along with a few pupils from P5 had an amazing week at Dolphin House! Over the week, they were working towards  their John Muir Award and using his 4 key objectives :- Discover, Conserve, Explore and Share. 😍🐬🌟

Our first day at Dolphin house involved some archery, we had lots of fun and settled in well.

We had a productive second day hill walking. 🏔 We got to experience some breathtaking views throughout our walk and appreciate what a beautiful country we live in. 😍 Some very tired children (and adults) this day! 🤣

A lovely evening rock pooling at Dolphin House🤩🐬🦀

We had a fabulous day paddle boarding and canoeing! 🤩🏄‍♀️🚣🏽🌟

A night walk through Culzean castle and then a disco for our last evening at Dolphin House! We had so much fun!🤩🐬🌟

Our Final Morning doing The Trout run 😆
