P5,6 and 7 Outdoor Learning
Primary 5, 6 and 7 were learning to work as part of a team during outdoor learning with Caitlin from Active Schools. They took part in a scavenger hunt in the woods and finished off their afternoon with a game of rounders.
Outdoor learning updating the playground P4-7
On Thursday 28th April we began our outdoor project to up date and improve our playground area. Mr Woods and a team of pupils began work on a sensory path, linking the top and bottom playgrounds. Mrs Cunningham and her team were weeding and tidying the raised beds and path area. The remainder of the pupils did an excellent job of repainting the fences, along with a few hands!

P 4-7 outdoor learning setting up our den
On our first trip outdoors after the Easter holidays we made some additions to our outdoor den up by the castle. We added some additional logs for seating and creating a wind break with some large branches. Everyone worked hard to make the area look more inviting and had great fun at the same time.

China
In P7/6 China has been our focus topic this term. We have spent time doing lots of practical activities such as creating a working bobsleigh track and building a model birds nest stadium (inspired by the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022) , sculpting our own Terracotta Army, perfecting our Chinese calligraphy and practising our paper folding skills with some origami.
- Take a look at our topic display showcasing some of our fantastic work that has been developed throughout the term.

♻️Our Sustainable School♻️
So far this term, P7/6 have continued to work on our Blue Planet topic but with a focus on sustainability and COP26.
We have spent some time learning about the Sustainable Development Goals and how we can become more eco-friendly, making ‘Climate Pledges’ that we displayed on our tree.
We focussed on Goal number 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’ and designed and tested Dirty Water Filters during an exciting hands-on science lesson.
Over the past few weeks we have all learned a lot about how if everyone makes little changes can make a big difference to the planet. We are ready to go out there and make change!

🐋 Blue Planet 🌎
This term as our topic we have been looking at our blue planet. We started learning all about the structure of the Earth, different rocks and minerals and even got the chance to investigate some local fossils that Miss Houston found near Kirk Hill just outside of Dailly. These fossils showed us that an ancient seabed was once there, up on the top of the hill!
We have done some thorough research on the oceans around the
world and will continue to look at the life in the oceans, how we humans depend so much on it and ultimately how important it is that we start to look after our blue planet. There is so much to learn and we are all so excited about the things we still have to do, therefore, this topic will run into Term 2.

Maths Week Scotland 2021
