Good afternoon everyone! It’s that time of the week again. Please keep reading for  a rundown of your homework and reminders for this week.

Spelling:  Units 28 and 35 should be completed for Friday. As always, each word should be written out three times and an uplevelled sentence should be written for each spelling rule word. Please remember to consider your VCOP in each sentence. This week we will be focusing on using more ambitious vocabulary in each sentence again. Please ensure you are including more ambitious vocabulary in your sentences.

Reading:  Last week you chose a new core reader for reading at home. Please complete the book for Thursday 2nd March. There will be no written homework for this as all tasks will be completed in class. As always, if there is any vocabulary you are unsure of, please take a note of it and we will discuss it in class on Thursday.

Personal Reading Challenge: We now have 5 weeks of reading left. You have set yourself a personal target based on the number of books read last term and the aim is to reach it (or beat it!) before the end of term. Please remember to bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC sessions.

Please remember to record the books in your reading passport as you finish them. The passport is kept in class.

Listening & Talking: This week you have a solo presentation to present. On Tuesday you will be presenting your presentation to the class. Please click here to see the task sheet with all of the details required. If you require a paper copy of the task sheet, please ask.

All PowerPoints should now have been sent to me to check that they will open on the class computer.

Maths: Please complete the word problems for your group by Friday. I have linked some of the questions to our Fractions topic therefore you should think carefully as to which operation would be best used in these calculations.  All workings should be shown and a sentence answer should be given for each question. Please use the links below to access your questions.

Please keep up the high standard of work.

Good morning everyone, I hope you are having a lovely weekend and relaxing after all the hard work you put in to make our fundraising event such a success! Please continue reading for your homework and reminders.

Spelling: Please complete lists a for o or est in your spelling homework jotter for Thursday. Please continue to write out your spelling words 3 times using SaCaWaC in the same way as we do in class. You should then write a sentence for each of your first 6 spelling words. We are again concentrating on the V of VCOP – vocabulary this week. You should be trying to have at least one wow word in each sentence (many of you should be aiming for more). I will again be focusing on assessing your fabulous vocabulary.

Reading: We are continuing with our novel study – Danny the Champion of the World. Please remember if you do not complete the reading you will be unable to take part in the class lesson. Please read chapters 13, 14 and 15 for Tuesday 28th February.

If there are words that you don’t understand please take a note of them in your Book Detectives jotter (remembering the page number) and, if possible, use a dictionary to find out their meaning . We will start our lesson by discussing them in class.

Personal Reading Challenge: Your challenge will be on going for the whole of this term (6 weeks to go!). I am delighted to see so many of you continuing to fill in your Personal Reading Passports. Remember to choose your books carefully to ensure they are at the correct level for you – not too easy or too hard. You can bring your book into school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC time.

You are responsible for planning, organising and preparing your presentation which you will be presenting in class on Tuesday 28th February. P5H Homework and Reminders – w/b 13.2.17

Good morning everyone, I hope you are enjoying your mid-term break. I’m sure you will have lots to tell us when we return to  school. This week is a very short week but as always we have loads packed into it. Please continue reading for your homework and reminders.

Spelling: Due to the short week there is no spelling homework this week. Normality will resume next week!

Personal Reading Challenge: Your challenge will be ongoing for the whole of this term (7 weeks of reading left!). I am delighted at the enthusiasm so many of you have been showing for this challenge, keep it up!! Remember to choose your books carefully to ensure they are at the correct level for you – not too easy or too hard. You can bring your book into school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC time.

Listening & Talking: This term you have a solo presentation to complete. You are responsible for planning, organising and preparing your presentation which you will be presenting in class on Tuesday 28th February. Please click here to see the task sheet with all of the details required. If you require a paper copy of the task sheet, please ask me and I will arrange one for you.

Maths:  Again due to our short week there is no maths homework however, we will be starting our fraction topic soon and it is very important that you know all your tables as this will make working with fractions much easier. Please remember to access the Multiplication and Division Trainers for extra practice.

Here are your reminders for this week:

  1. Thursday is our fundraising day! If you are able to bring in any home baking please do so. This can be brought in on either Wednesday or Thursday morning. Once all of the other classes have visited, you may buy any cakes that have not yet been sold.
  2. Due to our fundraising activities there will be no P.E. on Thursday this week.
  3. For those of you who haven’t already done so, please cover all your homework jotters. This helps to keep your jotters in good condition.
  4. Some of you have already brought in an old shirt or tee-shirt to cover your uniform during our art activities. For those of you have not, we will be working on our River Clyde mural throughout the topic so it would be good if you could manage to bring one in. This can be left in school until the end of term/session if you wish.
  5. Please remember if anyone at home is (or has been) linked to the River Clyde in any way through work, we would love to hear from them. Please click here for further information.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend.

See you all on Wednesday.

P7 WW2 – Personal Research Project

As part of our World War Two topic, you have a long-term Personal Project to complete (just like the one you created for our Japan topic). This time the theme will be linked to WW2.

Please read the task sheet below very carefully as it has all of the required criteria to succeed and some “helpful hints” to follow. When considering your chosen area to research, please ensure you pick a subject that you are able to research in depth.

The completion date for your Personal Project is Tuesday 14th March . This means you have 5 weeks to work on your project which is quite a long time. Please ensure you use this time wisely and do not leave everything to the final week! We will be checking on your progress on a regular basis. If you need a paper copy of the task sheet, just ask!

Remember you can bring your book to school as this will allow you to read it during our ERIC time.

Maths:  This week Mrs. O’Neill has posted another set of worded problems on your maths homework blog.  Please complete these in  your maths homework jotter. Good morning everyone! Another weekend is nearly over. I hope you have had a lovely time. Keep reading for a rundown of our homework and reminders for this week.

Spelling:  Units 25 and 32 should be completed this week. You should continue to copy each word out three times in your spelling jotter. You should then write an uplevelled sentence (remembering to use interesting VCOP) for the six spelling rule words. I have been very impressed with the openers being used in your sentences these last few weeks. Well done! I would also like you to consider how you could include some more ambitious connectives alongside these openers. This will make your sentences even more interesting!

This task should be completed by Friday.

Reading:  Please read chapters 9 and 10 of our class novel: The Borrowers. There is no written homework to be completed for this as it will be done in class. However, please remember if you do not complete the reading you will be unable to participate in the class lesson. All reading should be completed for Thursday.
