This morning we had a real treat as Jen, Eve and Chloe from P.A.C.E. visited us to teach us a play all about the Paisley 2021 City of Culture bid. We have been practising the songs for a couple of weeks but the girls were able to quickly teach us a whole performance in the space of one hour!
We were split into three groups: the history of Paisley, the Weavers and the future. We all had lines to say and actions to do while the narrators spoke. All our song practise paid off, as we sounded great. The P3 and P4 classes were a quality audience during our performance. Thanks again to Eve, Jen and Chloe. Here we are in action:

Hi everyone
I hope you all had an awesome weekend.
P2/1 are going to be visiting the library on Tuesday 11th October and we are looking for parent helpers to accompany us. We will be leaving school at 9.15am and should return no later than 10.30am. If you are feel and willing to help us, please write a note in your child’s diary.
On Friday, we are going to be celebrating the end of our topic by having an Elmer Day. We will be taking part in a variety of Elmer related activities all day. This will be a non uniform day and we ask that all children come to school dressed in bright coloured clothes if possible.
Thank you for all of the empty milk bottles donated so far. We now have enough to meet our needs so we do not require any more donations. Thank you!
Parent evening appointment letters will be sent home tomorrow ( Monday.) Please look out for these in book bags and return the tear off slips ASAP. Thanks.
I hope everyone has a lovely week ahead.
Miss Cruickshank

This week, P2/1 used their paper template to help them cut out their felt. This was a very tricky task! They worked with a partner to help them hold down the template on the felt while they drew round it with chalk. Once the chalk outline was complete, they used scissors to carefully cut around the edge.
Well done to everyone for working so hard and taking their time to complete the task! In our next craft and design lessons, we will be decorating the bunting using various materials. I can’t wait to see how the bunting looks when it’s finished!

P7S have started their catapult craft and design project. They started by researching various tabletop catapult designs. Each group picked 2 designs and created a rough annotated sketch of each. When picking the designs, they had to think about how successful the catapults will be when tested on: distance, accuracy and power.
Here are P7S researching various catapult designs.
P3H are making great progress with their juggling balls craft and design project. They started by creating 3 fantastic designs for their juggling balls.
The design criteria said that the designs should be; bright and colourful, circus-themed and appealing to children.
It was then time to give each other some feedback by using 2 stars and a wish. This is when they think about 2 things they like about the design and 1 thing they would like to improve.
Here are P3/2 hard at work!
Parents night appointment letters were sent home today in the children’s school bags. Can you please confirm that you can attend the allocated time by signing the letter I will collect them on Monday morning.
I hope you also received my letter this week regarding our open afternoon, where the children will be able to share their learning around their topic the ‘Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ with you. There will be one parent/guardian per child and it will start at 2pm. The activities will end at approximately 3pm. The children will be performing 2 songs for you all and then you will get the opportunity to come in to class to see our work. There will also be a small picnic prepared by the class. We will be creating special invites for you on Monday morning.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Miss Hamilton.
