Hawks House Art Day
Calling All Hawks!
Just a reminder that we are having our House Art Day on Thursday! This is a non uniform day. Please remember our activities may get messy so wear old clothes.
Please see the list below for the resources that we kindly ask each year group to bring. Hand these in by Wednesday please.

House Art Day – Ospreys – Thursday 29th November
Calling all Ospreys! For our House Art Day this year (Thursday 29th November) we will be creating our usual themed display which will be on show within the school. For our individual Christmas craft we are looking for resources. Please see below for items we would like you to bring in, if possible.

P4-7 – cereal boxes
This will be a non-uniform day. Please remember that our activities may get messy so please do not wear your good clothes.
House Art Day – Hawks – Thursday 29th November
For House Art Day on Thursday 29th November the Hawks will be creating festive crafts. Each year group has been allocated a resource to bring. Can children please bring these in over the next week before the house day. Please see below for what each year group is required to bring. As we are creating festive crafts the children will get messy. We would advise that children do not wear their best clothes for the house day.

European Day of Languages
Well done everyone for another successful languages day. P 1-3 designed t-shirts about France and all things French. Well done to our t-shirts winners (photos to follow). P4 -7 made a presentation in the form of a poster or powerpoint on the advantages of knowing more than one language.
Thank you to our mum and dad speakers and Craig our ex-pupil for their input.
If your child was one of the t-shirt winners, these are the care instructions – iron fix on the back for at least 4 mins and wash separately in cold water for first 3 washes.

European Day of Languages 2018
Bonjour – Guten Tag – Hello
Just a reminder that Wednesday 26th September will be a non-uniform day as we will be celebrating European Day of Languages 2018.
Pupils are asked to wear house colours – Eagles- yellow, Hawk-green, Falcons-blue and Ospreys-red.
Children will be involved in a variety of activities with the rest of their house to celebrate all things French and to explore why it is useful to know more than one language.
We look forward to hearing from some specially invited speakers on their experiences with languages.

Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 15th December
Please remember to wear a Christmas Jumper, t-shirt or something festive on Friday 15th December and bring a suggested donation of £1 to raise money for Save the Children. Visit the Christmas Jumper Day website to see how your money helps.
The Christmas jumper designs should be handed in on Thursday 14th December. Each entry costs 20p and the winner will be announced at the assembly on Friday. This competition was organised by the Pupil Council.
Christmas Art House Day – Friday 1st December
It’s that time of year again! Our annual Christmas Art House Day is on Friday 1st December. Pupils will work together with their House peers from other stages to create a Christmas display.
Pupils are asked to wear their House colours but they will be using paint, glue, glitter and other art materials so they may get messy!Please do not wear your best clothes!
A reminder of the House colours:
- Eagles – yellow or gold
- Falcons – blue
- Hawks – green
- Ospreys – red

Sports Day Update
Weather permitting, Sports Day will go ahead as planned tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd May. If we have to cancel due to weather conditions, we will inform you by text and Blog post in the morning.
Lunchtime Arrangements
Before lunchtime, all pupils will be taken back to class to register and collect their packed lunches, etc. If we have received the signed permission slip to allow them out of school during lunchtime, P4-7 pupils will be sent to the office to be collected. P1-3 pupils with permission slips will be able to be collected from the Dining Hall Fire Exit (at the greenhouse). Pupils who are not being collected by their parents will be escorted to the field by their teachers.
We hope you have a lovely picnic experience on the field. We ask that you encourage your child to stay away from any equipment that has been set up for the sports activities.
Remember to dress in your House colours to show some team spirit. Eagles – yellow, Hawks – green, Falcons – blue, Ospreys – red. Please wear or bring sun cream even if it looks cloudy, because we will be outside all day. Also, please wear a hoodie or waterproof jacket, just in case!

Sainsbury’s Active School Vouchers
Active Kids vouchers can no longer be collected from Sainbury’s but if you have any in your purse, wallet, handbag or that messy kitchen drawer everyone has, please send them into school so we can order cooking and sports equipment.

Rookie Rockstars Concerts Round 2
We had so many photographs from the Rookie Rockstars concerts we have had to make another blog post. Here are a few more photographs from our fabulous concerts held on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Enjoy!
Rookie Rockstars Concerts
The Rookie Rockstars concerts at Ingliston Country Club on Tuesday and Wednesday night were amazing! The pupils turned up dressed to impress and ready to rock! They put on two great shows, showing off their singing and dancing skills as well as what the songs had taught them about anti-bullying and self-esteem.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the events happen: Rookie Rockstars for their guidance and songs, Ingliston Country Club for allowing us to host the events for free, the audience (families and friends) for your support, the many school staff who came to supervise and rock out, the school secretaries who acted as a professional box office for a few weeks, the janitorial staff who acted as roadies for a few days and most importantly the pupils who rocked their socks off!

Rookie Rockstars – Hawks and Falcons – Wednesday 3rd May
Tonight, Ingliston Country Club will welcome the Eagles and Ospreys to perform the Rookie Rockstars concert in front of their family and friends. Here are a few reminders:
- Performers should be in the Main Arena from 6-6.15pm.
- The car park may be extremely busy so perhaps consider car pooling, where possible.
- Enter the arena at the left-handside of the Country Club, at the On the Hoof café.
- On the Hoof café will be open from 5pm.
- As the arena is used for equestrian events, anyone with horse allergies should take precautions.
- The arena is cold so dress appropriately.
- Take your seats from 6.15pm. The performance begins at 6.30pm and should end at 7.30pm.
- Tickets should be handed over next to the Seating Area.
- Pupils will only be handed over to the parent/carer as noted on their permission form. One teacher per class will be responsible for dismissing the pupils.
- A large number of teaching staff will be at the events to assist pupils during the performance and will direct you in case of an emergency evacuation.
- Official Rookie Rockstars merchandise will be available to buy at the events.
- You can pre-order the CDs at the events. £5 per CD (£1 per CD goes to the School Funds)
- Pupils are encouraged to dress like a rockstar for their performance or alternatively dress however they feel comfortable!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support. We are really looking forward to seeing you at the performance tonight and cannot wait to see the pupils rocking out with Dave from Rookie Rockstars!

Eagles Forfeit
As we ran out of time at the Quiz before the holidays, we all got together this morning to allow the poor Eagle House Captains to carry out the forfeit for losing the Quiz. They had to dip their faces into water then find an apple in a bowl of flour! Their faces say it all. Well done to Keeley and Corrie for being such good sports.
Rookie Rockstars – Nominated Adult

We are pleased to see that tickets for the Rookie Rockstars events are selling well and you are still able to buy your two tickets until Thursday 27th April. Please complete the form or write your child’s name, class, House, how many tickets you require (max. 2 at £5 each) and put it in an envelope with the exact money with your child’s name and class noted on the front. If you wish to request extra tickets, note this on the form.

Rookie Rockstars – Day 2
We had another fantastic session rocking out with Nick from Rookie Rockstars. We learned another two songs: Bullies Ain’t Big and Hey, Hey (I’m OK!). We practised the actions to the songs and played some air guitar along to the guitar solos. We even had some fun watching a rap battle between two pupils and two teachers! Please tell someone at home what you enjoyed most about today’s session.
If you want tickets but have lost the slip, please write your child’s name, class, House, which night you are coming and how many tickets you want. Remember you are guaranteed 2 tickets (£5 each) and can request extra which will be given out when all tickets have been sorted. Please put the exact money and request slip in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and class. Your child can hand it to their teacher in the morning or hand it in at the office.
