The Number Bond Challenge - make addition and subtraction number ...

Today we are going to do some work on our number bonds. Remember, a number bond is an addition sum that we can recall and answer really quickly.
If we know our number bonds off by heart, it helps us as we start to work with bigger numbers. 

Warm Up:

  • Jack Hartman has all the number bond videos for numbers from 1 to 10 on YouTube. Here is his video for number 8 – in the video he will show you all the different ways to make 8

Main Activity:

Number Bond Worksheet
  • Complete the addition sums below in your jotter. Try and answer the number bond sums quickly, without using your fingers!
  • If you need  to use your fingers  remember to always take the big number and add on the small number.

Extra Challenge:

  • Look at the picture below. Choose a number and write it in the middle of a your flower and then write all the different adding sums that make that number in the petals – remember we call all the different ways to make a number our ‘Number Story‘.
