Communication Skills

We are developing 5 core learning skills across the school this year to help children with their learning.  The first one we are focusing on is Communication.

Lynda Keith visited us today and taught us more about good communicating using ‘Teddy Talk’.  We enjoyed talking and sharing what we liked about the teddy we had and the teddy our partner had.

Dancing with Pudsey!

We had a great day for Children in Need and all of Primary 1 got to dance with Pudsey and participate in an interactive kids workout with Joe Wicks, the new schools ambassador for Children In Need.

Miss Donald was blown away with the amazing dance moves the children were breaking out, especially the break dancing!

Planting Trees

As part of our school project to develop the outdoor learning environment we planted trees yesterday!  First of all we had a look at the existing trees in the school grounds and tried to identify them by matching their branches to pictures.  It was pretty tricky, but Miss Donald was so impressed by our investigative and identification skills!

Reading Books / Homework Message

We are missing a few reading books which haven’t been returned when handing out the new reading books every week.  If you have any previous weeks books could they be returned please.

Please also ensure that your child brings their reading book to school every day with them, as we have daily reading sessions where they will need their book.

Many Thanks for your support.

Miss Donald

Shape

Today we were learning more about 2D shapes.  We are getting very good at identifying all the 2D shapes and explaining why they are that shape (number of sides and corners).  We are remembering the pentagon, hexagon and octogon well and have been using a feely bag to describe and guess shapes.

We started to learn about 3D shapes too and then we played with the shapes to make patterns, to sort them and to build with them.
