World Religions

This week we are learning about world religions.  We will be talking a lot about different beliefs and customs in different religions and how all beliefs should be respected.
We have been exploring and talking about symbolism, clothing and basic beliefs in different religions, including places of worship and customs.
On Monday we learned about Islam and what Muslims believe.  We learned about how they pray and then designed our own prayer mats.  We learned that no people or animals should be included in the design.

Anti-bullying week

Today we talked about bullying.  We discussed what bullying is, what it might look and sound like and how it makes people feel. We also discussed how important kindness is and ways in which we could show kindness to others.
Then we sorted pictures into friendly and unfriendly scenarios.

Maths with Mrs Davidson

This afternoon we were collecting data in maths and keeping a count using tally marks and ticks. We counted up how many in the class had chosen which option for lunch and marked each count on our whiteboards.
We discussed different ways of recording the data and the differences between the totals.

The Train Ride

Our story of the week this week is The Train Ride by June Crebbin.  We read the story and we listened to the song – a lot.  We sequenced the story and we talked about what we would see out of the train window.

We went on a pretend train ride in the class and had lots of fun!  We drew some lovely pictures of what we might see out of the train window and then sequenced and wrote a sentence about it.  Today we made our own train pictures by piecing together 2D shapes.
Below are the photos of our ‘train ride’.  Photos of the work to follow later…
