Digital Learning Support

DIGITAL LEARNING SUPPORT

As you are aware, in light of the First Minister’s announcement on the 5th of January we have moved to digital learning from the 11th of January until 1stof February for our children with the exception of key worker and vulnerable children.   To ensure that all children have access to learning and to their teacher, our teachers are working together to provide remote learning and to key worker and vulnerable children learning.

Microsoft Teams is our platform for remote learning and children from Monday can access learning via their Teams tile.  When you access Teams look out for your child’s classroom tile.

Please see below as to how the tiles look:

To help ensure children are accessing remote learning we have created this digital support area with help guides for pupils, parents and carers.  All information for remote learning can now be found in the one place.  Our guides below will give you advice on a range of topics such as ‘how to login to Glow’, ‘password reset assistance’ and ‘games console access’.

Staff will monitor all children’s access to online learning via the ‘insights’ tracking information available on your child’s team.  This will allow them to track how often pupils are logging into their class team.  Folders have been created for each child p1-3 within the files area of their team to allow them to upload completed tasks to share with their class teacher.  Each child will only be able to access their own named folder.  Feed back will be given direct from the class teacher and posted in the form of two stars 🌟 and wish ✨ at p1-3 within the child’s named folder.
P4-7 children will submit work via their  individual folder or assignments (as directed by their class teacher)  and this will be assessed using self, peer and teacher assessment strategies children are familiar with using at school.
SMT phone calls will take place to help and support children who are not engaging with online learning experiences.

Children will continue to be able to ask their class teacher for support with regards to aspects of their online learning via their class team.  These queries will by answered by their class teacher as soon as possible, within the school day.  Please be mindful staff will also be in school 🏫 supporting children of key workers as well as supporting their own class online.

All parental enquiries should not be posted on your child’s class team and should continue to be asked via enquiries@wishaw.n-lanark.sch.uk.  They will be passed on to the appropriate staff member and we will endeavour to answer within 48 hours.  Request for assistance with log in details, such as reset of passwords should also be sent to enquiries@wishaw.n-lanark.sch.uk.

Private Twitter messages will not be answered, our school Twitter site is for information only. All enquires should be sent in the usual ways.

How to upload files to Teams:

An excellent little video looking at using Teams on the iPad.

Teams on your iPad youtu.be/QJY9uenK_rM via @YouTube

Children have their own folder to upload work too. It will either be in the files area of your class team or in a separate channel. Your class teacher will direct you. Upload work in the usual way.
If using a picture from a phone or iPad you can upload as an attachment via the Teams app.

The NL Virtual Classroom is now accessed through Glow and SharePoint.  A handy video guide on how to access this can be found by clicking on the link below:
