Parent Council

Get Involved!
The Parent Council is composed of parents, staff, and co-opted members with the Head Teacher as adviser. They have rights and duties and responsibilities in relation to the Management of the school.
The rights and duties include:-
– supporting the work of the school
– representing the views of parents
– consulting with parents and reporting back to the Parent Forum
– promoting contact with the school, local, and wider communities
– fundraising
– taking part in the selection of senior promoted staff
– receiving reports from the Head Teacher and Education Authority
– receiving an annual budget for administration, training and expenses

The Head Teacher and the Local Councillor may attend Parent Council meetings but do not have the right to vote.
All members of the Council are selected for a period of 2 years, after which they may put themselves forward for reselection if they wish. All parents of children at the school can take part in the selection. Any parent of a child at the school can volunteer to be a member of the Parent Council. In the event that the number of volunteers exceeds the number of vacant places on the Council, members will be selected by voting. Anyone not selected may be offered the opportunity to be part of any sub-groups set up be the Parent Council.
