The Maths Factor

Good afternoon P6/7.  It has been lovely hearing from some of you in the comments.  It cheers me up to hear what you have all been doing during this difficult time.

Please remember to keep active as much as possible, P.E. with Joe Wicks every day is a good way to do this.

Carol Vorderman has a website called The Maths Factor and it normally costs money but she is offering it free at the present time for 4-11 year olds.  Please visit this site, there is great fun to be had practising your times tables and much more.  The link is:

The Maths Factor

Remember, Mr Dorris asked you all to know as many of your times tables as possible for going to Taylor.

Have fun and stay safe.  Let me know some of the things you have been doing to stay busy.

P3/4

Good afternoon boys and girls.

I am missing you all so much! I would love to hear from you all, how are you all getting on?

I can see some of you have been attempting to complete the adjectives challenge on Sumdog for this week. The leader board is changing each time I log on to have a look at your progress so well done! I have also set some Numeracy Data Handling tasks on Sumdog, so please try to attempt these tasks too. These tasks will end on Monday evening and i’ll then set new ones again.

I have uploaded an Egyptian task for you to look at. This online task allows you to read some relevant facts about hieroglyphic writing. You can then write your name using the computer.

The link below shows you the Egyptian alphabet and there is a secret message for you to solve. Don’t give it away though! Give the rest of the class time to solve it. If you solve it just let me know without revealing what it says. Good luck. 🙂

Hieroglyphic Secret Message

Why not use the Egyptian alphabet to create your own secret message for me, or someone in class. We can put them in our ‘Box of Good Feelings’ and give them out when we return to school.

You are a creative class so why not look at some of your spelling words and put some of them in a hidden picture, just like we’ve done before in class. If you have a particular favourite bring it into school when we return as I’d very much like to see it.

Try to look at Miss Coyle’s Stations of the Cross video and complete a kind deed at home. I’m sure you are doing lots of kind deeds at home with your families.

Have a great Wednesday P3/4. Take care for now.

Miss Park 🙂

P4/5

Good Morning P4/5

I hope you are all well. I am missing you all and I’m especially missing our games of Buzz!

Well done to all those who have been competing in the daily Times Tables competition!

  • Monday’s winning group – The Fantastic Five
  • Tuesday’s winning group – The Spinning Tops
  • Wednesday’s winning group – The Dancing Diamonds
  • Thursday’s winning group – The Fantastic Five

Remember and make a Tables Champ badge to wear when your group wins.

I have set some new tasks on Sumdog and Studyladder for you, including some science and art tasks.

Are you reading any books at home? You can add these to your reading log in class when we return. I’d love to hear about what you have been reading, why not post a book review in the comments section when you are finished – how many stars out of five would you give it, what was your favourite chapter or character?

I’m enjoying spending time in my garden and listening to all the different birds. I’ve seen two wood pigeons, four sparrows, two starlings and four magpies. Why not print out the checklist and see how many different birds you can spot? Ask an adult to help you to download the checklist – Twinkl resources are free just now, use the code UKTWINKLHELPS. If you can’t download the checklist, just make a note of what the birds look like and then research to identify the different birds.

You could also create a bird feederyou must ask an adult to help you to do this. You need to make sure you do not use anything that either you or anyone in your house is allergic to. The link shows you how to make the bird feeder with or without nuts.

Let me know how you get on in the comments section.

Remember and pray the Angelus at 12pm if you can.

Take care

Miss Mulvaney 🙂

Primary 5/6

Good Morning Primary 5/6!

I hope everyone is well today?  Has anyone been doing P.E with Joe Wicks in the morning?  We have been joining in at home here, it is good fun!

I saw something from Joe Wicks last night on social media and it gave me an idea, he had received a letter from a girl because she thought he was an inspirational person and it made me think that at this strange time there are lots of inspirational people around!  Perhaps this week you could choose your own inspirational person and write them a letter?  It could be someone famous or someone you know.  Remember in your letter to tell them what it is they are doing that you find inspiring and thank them for a being positive role model.  I look forward to hearing all about the people you choose.

Take care,

Mrs Allan

Hello Primary 5/6

Good afternoon boys and girls!

I hope you are all safe and well and enjoying the Spring sunshine today?

I am missing working with you all and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone back at school when the time is right.

I have seen some of you have been on Studyladder working on some of the tasks I set, I hope you are enjoying them?  I have also set a Sumdog challenge and I hope you are able to spend a little time working on that too.

I have decided to try and read a book while I have a little more time at home, I read lots of books with the boys but I don’t very often get a chance to read one I’ve chosen for myself.  I’d like to hear if you’ve chosen a book to read?  Why did you choose it?  Is it by an author you’ve read before?  Do you like the characters in it?  Perhaps you could post a comment to tell me a little about it or you could give me some clues about your book and I can try and guess what you are reading?  You could perhaps draw an alternative front cover for a chosen book too?

Take care,

Mrs Allan :0)
