Hello P6/7, how are you all? I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and didn’t overindulge on chocolate (I did)! The weather has been lovely and I hope you have all managed to do a little exercise each day. I have added some things that you could maybe work on and try over the next few days. If you manage to do some things then great but it is important to enjoy the sunshine and spend time with your families. Remember to stay safe and take care. It would be lovely to hear back from all of you.

Last term we looked at Children’s Rights and the rights of others. Over the next few weeks I would like you to research some influential people who campaigned for the rights of others. This week I would like you to research Rosa Parks. You can choose to do your research in any way you like, it could be a powerpoint, a poster or even just writing down facts. I hope you enjoy doing this.
The above link has a video about Rosa Parks that I think you might enjoy. You will find lots of information from it.
I will also set Sumdog challenges for Maths and Spelling. Take care everyone, I miss you all loads.

This site is excellent as a source of activities and learning for anyone who wishes to try something different or extra. Children learn in a huge variety of ways and this resource uses narrated video clips with follow on activities. Lots of choice and for all stages means there will be something for everyone…and lots of it.

thought for the day:
“A little bit is better than nada, although sometimes you want the whole enchilada!”
Feel comfortable setting your own quantity of work, each day.

A gentle reminder for our families and parents (who no doubt feel the lurking pressure of a new term tomorrow):
We are in this together, but remember your most important role, STILL, is that of a parent.
You’re EXPERTS at being wonderful parents to your little ones. No-one should expect more of you than that, the hardest job in the world.

Hello boys and girls how are you all? I hope you have managed to have some fun time with your family especially with the nice dry weather.
I will be in the Hub on Monday which is in New Stevenston school so I am looking forward to helping the boys and girls.
I am giving you all a few ideas to help you get started back into home schooling.
First I would like you to go onto
They are posting daily lessons from 9 a.m. everyday, looks like fun, have a go!
Next try the link below. It gives you a re-cap of Easter then tells you the story of Doubting Thomas. Listen carefully as it asks you some questions.
Then I would like you to think of a fun activity to do with your family inside or outside if you have a garden? My girls had a sports day last week, let me know what you come up with maybe I could try it with my family!
Have a good Monday. Take care, I miss you! Mrs Slavinx

Hello boys and girls!
How are you all? I hope you all had a lovely Easter and enjoyed some yummy chocolate! The weather has been lovely hasn’t it? I hope if you have a garden you have manged to get out and have some fresh air and if not them hopefully you have manged to go a walk safely in the sunshine! I know some of you have been doing this as I have seen you whilst out my daily walk :0) It was lovely to see you and if I haven’t seen you then hopefully I’ll see you back in school as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, here are some tasks you could work through this week, please remember that I don’t expect you to be completing everything – these are just some tasks you could work through but while the weather is so nice make sure you enjoy it and try to help around the house and spend time with your family.

Before we finished school we had been looking at animals, their habitats and some of their adaptations and characteristics. Scientists like to group or ‘classify’ animals and one way they do this is by using ‘keys’. Here is a video clip and a powerpoint which helps to explain how they work and a worksheet for you to try.

As strange as it feels, we are now in our Easter Holidays! After what has been the strangest school term of all time, for all of us, I am asking our teachers to switch off and try to enjoy some unfettered family time. It looks like we have a longer road ahead of us than we thought and we will adapt to support you as we reconvene after the break. I’ve attached a message below which is intended to make you, as parents and pupils, feel good about what you’re achieving and confident (and realistic) about moving forward together.

I hope you are having a fun Friday as it’s near what would have been the holidays.
My girls are dressed up as a princess and a mermaid, did anyone else dress up today?
Here are a few sites to help keep you busy if you get a bit fed up over the next few weeks.
Keep me posted on how you get on and take care of yourself and family. God Bless Mrs SlavinX

Good morning boys and girls. I hope you are well on this April morning. I have 2 challenges for you to try for the holidays.
1. I wanted to encourage you to take part in the super let’s go Easter activities run by NL libraries. You can see it it on our twitter page or click the link below. I would be very interested in how you get on and what your favourite activity is. Perhaps the Easter card or maybe the bunny comic strip. I like the one about making a picture from the foil from your Easter eggs. Post on the blog or twitter to tell/show us what you did.

2. The second challenge is to bake an Easter treat. There are so many lovely ones about. I like the rice pop doughnuts and bunny cupcakes, links below but you choose. Again, post on the blog or twitter. You could even share your favourite recipe for others to try. Good luck and keep busy and safe. Thinking of you all,
Miss Coyle
