We have received information from North Lanarkshire Council this afternoon, which gives more of an idea of what things will look like in August when schools reopen and children arrive back. We are very much looking forward to our school re-opening and we are working hard, in partnership with North Lanarkshire, to prepare for this.
Throughout the Summer Holiday, there will be further information regarding our re-opening in August. We are aware that there will be some anxiety around days children are attending, how this fits with work schedules and what health and safety will look like.
Mr Thomas has been working (along with the Senior Leadership Team) with staff from NLC to prepare a recovery plan. There will be a lot of detail circulated about this in the coming weeks. This information will be given out at appropriate times so as not to overload our Parents/Carers and to ensure that everyone has the right information at the right time. In the meantime, please follow the link below to the NLC Website to see a letter from Derek Brown, Executive Director of Education & Families. This give the current position, as agreed by the Council and lets you know what August will look like.
Please note, that we will ensure siblings who attend St. John Paul II attend school on the same days. From there, we will look at working groups for Literacy, so that we can maximise Learning & Teaching time. It will not be possible to ensure children are allocated days with best friends.
The official return date for children will be Wednesday 12th August 2020. Tuesday 11th will be an INSET DAY for staff only.
North Lanarkshire have issued a Frequently Asked Questions sheet – which you may find useful. This is a live document and will be updated on a regular basis. Download it below…

So, this afternoon we should have been gathering in the hall to celebrate our Primary 7s in their Leavers’ Assembly! We are sad we’re not able to celebrate together, but, we have managed to put together the famous “slideshows” we would usually show! So let’s start at the beginning – and celebrate our Class of 2020! 🥳🎓🥳 (Tissues at the ready! 😢)
Continuing with our celebration of our fab Primary 7 pupils, here is a wee video with some pictures of our year in P7! 🥳🎓🥳
And finally, a wee recap of our amazing week in Kilbowie!!
Our Primary 7s have been amazing! And while we know this isn’t our assembly, it’s at least some memories for you all! These videos will be available on your class Teams pages, where you can download and keep them! 🎉🎓🎉

We are all so sad that we won’t be able to celebrate our amazing Primary 7 pupils leaving us in the way we usually would. Their year was cut short, but they did us all so proud in the way they dealt with everything. So we’re arranging a few things to hopefully help them to feel as special as they should.
Sizes available – 11-12, 12-13, Adult XS, Adult Small, Adult Medium
Colours available – Arctic White, Candyfloss Pink, Deep Black, Fire Red, Hot Pink, Jade Green, Kelly Green, Purple, Royal Blue, Sky Blue, Heather Grey, Sun Yellow
Please share this information with anyone who may need it! Thanks for your support.

Further to yesterday’s information from Cardinal Newman regarding the transition process for our P7 Pupils, we have received more information today. There will be an opportunity for our P7 pupils to have a visit to CNHS on Friday 19th June at 9.30am. The children can be taken along to the school and will have a chance to see inside the building and meet some staff. It will last about an hour. Children should be dropped off at the main reception and collected from the car park – there will be CNHS staff there to help. If you can’t make it, don’t worry, all relevant information will be sent to you.

We know some children were disappointed that we couldn’t offer a visit to school next week. We were disappointed too because we would rather see everyone face to face. So we’ve been thinking of how to do this.
We would like to offer those children a (socially distanced) visit to meet their teacher and have a wee chat with them before the summer holidays so we are inviting you to school either on Monday 22nd June 10am -11am or Tuesday 23rd June 1pm -2pm. You will be able to collect a little booklet to complete during the summer holidays and a story to read together. Our P1 teachers will meet you outside the same way we gave out our home learning packs to the rest of the school. Your teachers are looking forward to seeing you on one of these days.
Please share this information with anyone you know who is starting.

Join us for Assembly this week… and why not bring a friend? If you know of someone who hasn’t joined us yet, why not encourage them to join us online at 11am? Let’s see if we can top our record of 100 people!
Just go to the St JPII Assemblies team at around 11am and click on the invitation. Click on the purple banner. Then click join. You may have to click on the DETAILS tab at the top to see the option to join.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
