The three young ladies in the photograph above, all had a ‘it’s time to take your jotters to Mrs Bolland’ . I was suitably impressed and thoroughly enjoyed sharing in the girls’ pride in their work. They had all increased their skills in language tasks and were able to write , with accuracy about the chosen subject, using their success criteria. Well done girls!
It’s Primary 4’s assembly this afternoon. As always, please arrive by 2pm, when the children will take to the stage and share their knowledge about resolutions and forgiveness. They will also perform a number of songs and actions that coincide with this theme. I know that parents and carers are in for a treat and I look forward to having the opportunity chat to you after the assembly, over a wee refreshment, in the Primary 4 class.
You will see from twitter and class pages that the boys and girls have been working on tasks related to Catholic Education week, and I will be speaking, on behalf of St Bartholomew’s Primary school at church on Sunday at 11.30am mass. I look forward to seeing you then.

Four fabulous pupils arrived in my office yesterday, armed with some super achievements in reading, effort and all round hard work. Well done boys and girls! It’s always nice to share our achievements with our whole school community, and I know that you will be as impressed as we are.
A reminder that Primary 4 ‘s assembly will be rescheduled to tomorrow. As you recall, it was scheduled to take place on the 19th January, however, the school had to close early that day due to the worsening weather conditions. As the children were so well prepared and looking forward to performing that day, we decided to allow them to perform their assembly in the morning, for the whole school. A video was uploaded on twitter so that parents and carers could share in their fantastic work. At last, mums, dads and extended family will be able to see for themselves, in person, how wonderful Primary 4’s performance is. As always, the assembly will start at 2pm and an invitation to join the boys and girls in class for a refreshment will follow thereafter. We look forward to welcoming you.

Our boys and girls had a fantastic time at Celtic Park last night. Mr Fowler reports that the children were so well behaved and a credit to themselves, their families and the school. Great fun was had by all and again, a huge thank you to Joe Bradley for organising this for us. It is much appreciated. Please remember to keep your eye on twitter for some fab pictures of this event.
I attended a committee meeting last night, hosted by Mark and Lucy Millar. As you know, there has been some press about Mark and Lucy’s plans for the Townhead area. Some wonderful and exciting ideas were discussed that considered all member of the community, Young and old. A central hub will be created in order that everyone can access this information and catch up with what is going on at any particular time. I will keep you up to date with proposed events. It was lovely to meet representatives from Townhead Primary and Townhead Church, in addition to our own representatives from St Bartholomew’s and be able to work together for the benefit of the community.

Primary 5 boys and girls will be enjoying another trip to the Time Capsule this afternoon. I hear that the children’s general confidence in their skills has increased and also for some, just being comfortable in the water. This is so important and the opportunity to improve skills and confidence cannot be underestimated. Well done boys and girls!
Mrs McGuinesss will be teaching our Primary 7 and Primary 4 children today. To be honest, I haven’t heard about what they are cooking today and look forward to guessing what delights they will be producing , from the lovely aroma coming from the kitchen.
Mr Bradley, our Gaelic football coach has again offered 15 of our pupils the opportunity attend the Celtic football match this evening. The children will be picked up from school at 6pm and transported by coach to Parkhead , watch the match and then be transported back to school. It is so kind of Mr Bradley to think of us and we are very grateful. Watch out for pictures on twitter and see for yourself, how much fun the children will be having.

The young lady in the photograph above had poppped in to my office last week, to show me her wonderful work in writing. Not bad for Primary 1! Well done and keep up the good work…
Our HMIe visitors left us on Friday with a positive report. They complimented our fantastic boys and girls and all of the staff that make St Bartholomew’s a wonderful place to be. We will keep you up to date when the report is published. Thank you again to all of our supportive parents and school partners who were very complimentary about our school. It is much appreciated.
It is Catholic Eucation Week and is particularly special this year due to the centenary year of the Education Act in Scotland which brought pre existing and future Catholic schools into the public provision of education. The theme this year is serving the common good and we are asked to reflect on how we are serving the common good in our homes, schools and parishes.
Our first Parent Council meeting of the new year takes place this evening and we look forward to discussing current and potential issues that affect our school. As always, new members are welcome, please come along to contribute your views.
Dance after school club is on today and as always, please remind children to bring kits and water along with them.

Yet again, our Pupil Voice business meeting was a great success. The Primary 7 chairperson from each group represented the views from both the Primary 1-3 and Primary 4-7 groups exceptionally well. There was a huge variety of fantastic and varied ideas that the children will implement themselves, in the very near future. We are all looking forward to their impact.Thank you boys and girls for all of your contributions.
Please be aware that the gymnastics after school club is on today. As always, it is very much appreciated when parents and carers remind children to come to school with kits and water etc.

The HMIe team who are visiting our school have all commented on the lovely and sometimes, very humorous personalities of our pupils. They have been wonderful ambassadors for St Bartholomew’s and I know that the team are looking forward to working alongside them for the next couple of days.
Our pupil voice groups feature in our timetable today and the first task of the chairperson and secretary from each group will be to host the Primary 4 to Primary 7 meeting . The agenda will then be discussed with the P1 to Primary 3 cohort, later on in the morning ,and then feedback to Mrs McLean and myself will be scheduled in the afternoon. We are both looking forward to hearing some wonderful ideas!
A huge thank you to our supportive parents who very kindly volunteered to attended a meeting yesterday, chaired by the lay member of the HMIe team. A further expression of gratitude is attributable to our school partners, who also attended a similar meeting . This is very much appreciated.
Please check school bags for our most recent newsletter as there are important dates for your diary included.

Our senior pupils reported that they thoroughly enjoyed their efforts at the netball tournament yesterday morning. This was the first of many games and the children are looking forward to taking part and meeting new friends- wining the odd game or two would be a nice bonus! We will follow their progress with interest…
Our Primary 5 boys and girls will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their swimming techniques today. They will share the bus with Townhead pupils to the Time Capsule and enjoy a mix of dry sports and swimming activities. We are looking forward to hearing another great report from our parent helpers and also from the staff at the Time Capsule. Have fun boys and girls.
Mrs McGuiness will be delivering food and nutrition lessons all day and our Primary4, Primary 4/5 and Primary 7 pupils are all very much looking forward to learning new skills. The added bonus is taking home a wonderful creation and sharing it with family and friends, or, eating it all yourself. ..I am sure that some of our boys and girls will enjoy sharing !
A reminder to parents and carers that our Netball After School club is on today and please ensure that children have kits and water etc with them . Much appreciated.

A huge welcome to Elizabeth Montgomery, Margaret Paterson and the team from HMIe who will be visiting us this week. They will be visiting all of our classes and seeing the fabulous effort that our boys and girls make on a daily basis. On Tuesday, the team have made appointments with some of our parents and school partners, who I know will be very supportive of everything that we do at St Bart’s. Thank you to our parents/ carers and stakeholders for volunteering their time to come along and support us. It is much appreciated.
Our upper school boys and girls will be representing the school at a netball tournament in the Matt Busby sports centre in Bellshill this morning. As always, our pupils will try their very best and we look forward to hearing about how they get on. Good luck boys and girls!
