Good morning Super Stars 🌟

Today is Happy Friday! What makes it even better, is that, it has to be another beautiful sunny day today! Make sure you enjoy it!☀️

Let’s start by saying an Our Father and thanking God for this beautiful weather. I would also like you to say a special prayer to ask God to look after all of those brave NHS workers who are doing such an amazing job right now.🙏🏻 I was out on my doorstep last night clapping with everyone at 8pm to say a great big thank you to them and all of the other amazing key workers. Were you?👏

If you would prefer you can also download the Epic app. The app only allows you to log in during school hours 9-3 so if you try to do this after these hours, it will not work.

Common Words: out, now, new 

This week the children are not able to sound out the words to help them read and write their new common words. These words are taught prior to the children exploring the relevant phonemes so for now they are treated as sight words that the children just need to learn. The best way to learn sight words is through lots and lots of repetition. Ask your child to practise writing the words and encourage them to spell the words out loud.

Once your child has written their sentences ask them to check that they have included their core writing targets. They are very familiar with the symbols below.

Reading 📚 

Our school is using a new digital education resource published by Scholastic online. I will be assigning books for your child to read each week.  Every pupil in our class has been assigned their own login details. Please send me an email and I will be able to give you, your child’s username and password so that they can access their reading books. I will also give you step by step instructions on how to access this resource online.

This week’s phoneme is wh. Emphasize to your child that this phoneme is made up of two separate sounds w and h but when we put them together, the h becomes silent. You could introduce this sound to your child using any of the following videos:

Well done to all of the children who managed to take part in this week’s Sumdog Maths competition. You have all worked very hard and tried your very best. The leader board was very close but we have a winner.

Today we stop for our Easter break and I would just like to tell you how proud I am of each and every one of you. Learning has been very been different these past two weeks and I know how much you must be missing your friends. I am missing you all lots! You have all been working so hard and I have loved hearing about all the amazing things you have been doing at home. Well done everyone! You definitely deserve a break!

Thank you to all parents for your help over the last two weeks. You have all been wonderful. I know it can’t be easy and I really appreciate your support and patience as we begin a new way of learning.

I know your Easter break will be quite different this year boys and girls, as you will be spending most of your time at home but I hope you have lots of fun and enjoy spending time with your families. It’s Friday, Happy Friday! You have nearly completed your second week of home learning. If you work really hard today, I will make you a deal!

If you complete some of today’s tasks and listen carefully to your mums and dads, then you can have the next two weeks off from school work. DEAL🤝?Lets get started on today’s tasks then!

Today is your last chance to compete in our class Sumdog maths competition. Lots of you took part yesterday and the leader board keeps changing, it’s very close. The competition closes at 2.30pm and shortly after I will announce our maths champion🏆 Who will it be? You only have a few hours left so Go, Go, Go🏃🏻‍♂️🏃‍♀️!

Holy week begins this Sunday. This is a very important week leading up to Easter. Today I would like you to watch and listen carefully to The Story of Easter.  This will help you to understand the importance of Easter and why it is such a special celebration.

After you have watched and listened to the Easter story, I would like you to draw a picture and write a few sentences to show what you have learnt.

If we were in school today we would have been making some Easter cards so why don’t you try making one at home to give to your family or friends? I have posted some ideas below to help get you started but feel free to use your imagination. 🐣

                 

I know it has been tough staying at home but READING gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are. Today I would like you to choose a book in your house and find a quiet and comfy place for you to read. Where will your story take you?  🏠📚
