It’s only 50p a guess! The winner gets a wonderful teddy and an Easter Egg!

All money goes to charity! So while you have fun you are also helping others in need!

We will also announce the winner at assembly.

Nursery Football Taster Session

Today the boys and girls at the nursery met a new friend. His name was Kevin and he was here to give us a little taster of some football skills. The children really enjoyed playing ‘Tunnel Tig’ and ‘Treasure Island’ to warm their bodies up ready to play football. Once we were all warmed up, we took turns to go into different coloured teams, all taking a turn of being the goal keeper. The children tried really hard not to let the opposing team score any goals, while trying to get some goals in themselves! All the children had a great time and really showed off their great football skills!

Chinese New Year

We have been learning about the traditions and customs that are associated with Chinese New Year. The children learned that Chinese New Year each year is celebrated with a different animal, this year being the year of the ‘Monkey’. The boys and girls had fun finding out what animal they would be, then making a mask of the animal they were. We also learned a simple Chinese song and practised the ‘Dragon Dance’! Some children even tried to copy some simple chinese writing, which they were super at and then got some coloured card, pens and scissors and made their very own lantern. After all this hard work, there was a well deserved taster of a Chinese snack; noodles, spring rolls and prawn crackers, which was yummy!

World Book Day 2016

World Book Day 2016 is fast approaching, so the time has come to start thinking about which character we will come to school dressed as!

On Thursday 3rd March 2016, we will be celebrating World Book Day in the school and nursery.  All staff and pupils are invited to dress up as a favourite character from a book on the day.  Prizes will be awarded for the most original outfit from each class.

Lots of ideas and inspiration for simple to create costumes can be found on the WBD website at www.worldbookday.com.

During the day, all the children in the school and nursery will be involved in listening to stories read by different members of staff around the school.  This promotes reading together and reading for enjoyment and has proved a popular activity in the past!

We will also be holding a ‘Book Swap’ on World Book Day.  All pupils can bring in one book from home (in excellent condition) which they can swap for a different book to take home with them!  More details on the arrangements for this will follow.

In total today we raised £138.50! We have another two weeks of our Micro Tyco challenge so please keep watching this space for more information about what is happening next and the progress we continue to make..

Healthy Eating Fun for the Nursery, P1 and P2

This afternoon the PM nursery children joined up with the P1’s and 2’s to continue their shared learning.

We have all been enjoying learning opportunities linked to a story called ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Picnic.’  In the story, the main character Mr Grinling does not have a very healthy lifestyle, and eats far too much unhealthy food!  Our boys and girls worked together in groups to learn about healthier options that Mr Grinling could enjoy on his picnic!

We made some fruit smoothies, some caterpillar fruit kebabs, some strawberry mice and some healthy wraps.  The boys and girls enjoyed making the different healthy snacks…and enjoyed tasting them even more!

It was great to see how confident our nursery children now are when working in the primary school environment.  The staff were delighted with the fantastic work from the children today, well done!

Primary 6 Enterprise Club 2016

The Primary 6 Enterprise Club have been working hard to raise money for the annual trip to The Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Playhouse and a restaurant. The children have come up with a lot of good fund-raising ideas.

Starting on Monday 15th February, Primary 6 will be opening their very own Stane Ice Cream Factory for one week only!

Pupils will be able to order ice cream first thing each morning and it will be delivered to them straight after lunch.

Children can choose:

  • A Cone or a Tub – 50p (2 scoops of strawberry, chocolate or vanilla)
  • Added extras – 10p (sprinkles or raspberry sauce)

We look forward to opening The Stane Ice Cream Factory!
