Creative Residency Exhibition

The Creative Residency Exhibition took place at Summerlee Industrial Museum. It is a real celebration of the work that pupils produced during the residency at Oban and during the masterclass in September. Pupils were invited to enjoy the celebration with their families.

The following S5 pupils had work exhibited: Art & Design: Lauren Clancy, Jonathan Hughes, Dominika Janiak, Louis Kinsler and Declan Quinn. Music: Lewis Duncanson, Paul Jaffray. Rebecca Stewart. Drama: Joseph Ash, Connor Brown, Roisin McNamara. Well done!

S2 Art & Design pupils visited the Creative Residency Exhibition at Summerlee Industrial Museum on Friday 12 February with members of staff from the Art department.

Lenten Charities to support Malawi and HCPT

HCPT

Every year, two or three pupils from S6 get the opportunity to go to Lourdes with the HCPT Pilgrimage Trust which offers pilgrimage holidays for disabled and disadvantaged people from around the UK.

This year Rachel Curran, Greg Ferguson and Jennifer Noble have been selected and they are looking forward to this opportunity.

Malawi

9 Pupils from OLHS will be visiting our partner school St. John Bosco in Malawi from the 9th-22nd June. This is a great opportunity to see how the water project has progressed and the impact it has had on both the school and the community in Katete.

Fundraising is well under way for this years trip, in particular we will be looking for donations of stationary and baby clothes (old or new) so that we can donate these to the primary schools and the maternity ward of the community hospital.

These can be handed in to any of the pupils going on the trip Grace Carey, Toni De Pellette, Erin Docherty, Lewis Duncanson, Rebekah Dunese, Ross Gordon, Ada Malinowska, Ryan McTurk, Kieran Millar or directly to Mrs Forrester.

Credit Union – Star Savers

The Credit Union in Our Lady’s High School, which is run as a branch of the Cumbernauld Central Credit Union, continues to gather members, both pupils and staff.

We are open for business every Thursday in the Mathematics Department. Membership gives pupils the opportunity to develop their financial awareness both as savers and helping to run the branch.

This year’s wonderful celebrations started with a coffee morning where members of staff were treated to Chinese biscuits, snacks and tea as well as being entertained by over 20 Mandarin pupils with various types of performances. Members of staff who were born in the Year of the Monkey were given a surprise gift!

All S2 pupils took part in various Chinese workshops, learned Chinese New Year songs and wrote Chinese characters as part of the celebrations. Pupils were fascinated by the dancing, painting, Taiji fan and tea ceremony workshops.

We welcomed visitors from Buchanan High School and Glencryan School who were invited to experience some exciting Chinese culture at Our Lady’s High School.
