We are extremely proud of the success of all our learners this year. Our S5 students had an outstanding performance in this year’s National Qualifications. At Higher level 28.2% achieved at least 5 awards which is a fantastic performance. 55.1% achieved at least 3 awards at Higher and a superb 73.1% achieved at least 1 award at Higher. Well done to 5 of our learners who achieved 5 Higher awards all at grade A. They are: Marisa Barrack, Angeliki Biza, Joe Diamond, Michael McGee and Liam Reilly.
Adding to this success, this year’s S4 results were fantastic. 49.3% of S4 learners achieved 5 awards at National 5 and over 90% achieved 5 awards at National 4.
Well done to 8 learners from S4 who achieved 7 National 5 awards all at Grade A. They are: Challum Brown, Matthew Doogan, Matthew Jaffray, Cameron Maclean, Niamh Millar, Jonathan Reynolds, Katie Smith and Andrew Tonner.
We were delighted to welcome our Senior Award winners and their families on Wednesday 20th September, celebrating the outstanding attainment and wider achievements of these amazing young people.
We were treated to some fantastic musical entertainment from Chloe Graham, Magdalena Hubbard-Perez and Liam Reilly. Senior pupils also shared with us some of the wider experiences and involvement beyond the classroom.
Congratulations to all!
We are delighted to welcome our new S1 who have had a busy start to their OLHS journey! This includes:
P7 Transition Award: On Tuesday 5th September our new S1 together with our six Primary heads were delighted to receive a Community Education Award from Mr Owen Parry in recognition of our transition project ‘Online Safety’, an initiative run in conjunction with City of Glasgow College and Sky Academy. Congratulations to all involved.
Kickstart Theatre Group: On Friday 1st September, our S1 pupils participated in Kickstart Theatre Group’s play ‘Lightheaded’, promoting positive lifestyle choices.
S1 Library Induction: S1 pupils had their library induction with librarian, Mr Boyle. They were shown where all the different types of book were kept and they also got to choose a book and make their own bookmark. They will follow a 20 week programme spread over the session to promote reading for enjoyment and literacy skills.
S1 ‘Sumdog’ Launch: All S1 were introduced to Sumdog, a resource to support learning in Maths and Numeracy, disguised as fun games which pupils can play on their own or link with others, in school, at home, anywhere! Sumdog is available online or App can be downloaded to pupils’ own tablet or phone.

On Friday 8th September, the whole school community celebrated our patronal feast day.
Every pupil took part in a prayer service and received a sweet treat, donated by our staff, before heading to Rock N Roller Disco at Cumbernauld town centre.
The day concluded with Mass for S1 and S6.
Our pupils and staff were celebrating all things mathematical as part of this national initiative. This included:
Higher Maths Inter-Authority Student Conference
The Maths department were delighted to plan and host this event which included students and staff representing 6 local authorities: St Thomas Aquinas Secondary (Glasgow), Dumfries Academy (Dumfries and Galloway), Douglas Academy (East Dumbartonshire), St Benedict’s High (Renfrewshire), St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High (South Lanarkshire). This event enabled students and staff to share their experiences of their mathematical journey so far – the challenges and support as well as sharing top tips for success.
We were also joined by Craig Spence from Skills Development Scotland, who gave an inspiring presentation on the diverse range of career pathways beyond school for our young mathematicians.
Students then participated in a workshop, delivered by University of Strathclyde post-graduate students, on the use of Mathematics in the control of infectious diseases.
Our guests left with a Maths goody bag, which included Maths Week cupcakes specially designed and made by our S6 Personal Development pupils.
Advanced Higher Mathematics Students at St Joseph’s Primary
Our AH students were delighted to be invited by University of Strathclyde to work with their post-graduate students to deliver workshops with pupils at St Joseph’s Primary School.
University of Glasgow Workshop
Our Higher maths students worked with Dr Alan Logan from Glasgow University, investigating Mathematics and cryptology.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this successful week of Mathematical celebrations!
S2 pupils visited the Edinburgh Book Festival on Thursday 24th August and they enjoyed the chance to hear author talks including one from the excellent David Almond. They also had a great time soaking up the literary atmosphere and enjoyed one or two ice creams in the late August sunshine! Thanks very much to librarian Mr Boyle and Mrs Ferris-Bell for accompanying pupils on the trip.

A key part of our work in Our Lady’s High School is to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement to ensure our learners have consistently high quality learning experiences, and are fully supported in all aspects of their school life. Over the course of the last year we sought opinions from a number of stakeholders to inform our work in this area.
