Malawi 2016

The Malawi Committee would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ for all your support in terms of donations for the upcoming trip. We have received a fantastic collection of baby clothes and items which will be most welcomed at the maternity unit at the local community hospital. We are now shifting focus and are collecting the following items; pens, pencils, rubbers, sharpeners, jotters, rulers, coloured pens/pencils, balloons, bubbles, old football tops, small sports gear – tennis balls, table tennis bats/balls, badminton racquets/shuttlecocks, plastic mugs, flip flops and any unwanted electronics. These can be handed into the school office or directly to Mr Dickson, Mr Maxwell or Mrs Forrester.

Last day for S6!

On Thursday 28 April S6 students came together to celebrate the end of thirteen years of schooling.  There were tears and laughter as the young people reminisced about their time in Our Lady’s High School.

The day started with an Awards’ Ceremony followed by a coffee morning for staff and S6 pupils. Father McKay and Father Campbell concelebrated a beautiful Mass and the day ended with an afternoon at the bowling.

We look forward to seeing our S6 at the Prom on 10 June.

Easter School

Nearly 200 of our senior pupils attended Easter School from Monday 4 April to Wednesday 6 April to help them prepare for their SQA exams.

Many subjects offered tutorial sessions including mathematics, biology, chemistry, art, modern languages and social subjects.

We are confident that the support our young people had from this, as well as Study Weekend and Saturday Study days will pay dividends in the final exam.

Exam Masses

The Our Lady’s community recently came together to pray for the success of our young people who will shortly be sitting SQA exams.  Father McKay celebrated Mass in the school for S4 and S5 students who will be sitting SQA exams shortly.

The music for the Masses, led by Miss Blain and Miss McLean of the music department was very uplifting.  Pupils were issued with the schools exam prayer and Father McKay encouraged them to visit the school oratory during exam leave.  Thanks go to everyone involved in preparing for these Masses.

Barcelona Trip

Barcelona Trip

Thirty S3/4 pupils enjoyed a fantastic trip to Barcelona during the Easter holiday.

They visited many famous landmarks including Catalunya Square, Passeig de Gracia, the Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas and the Nou Camp Stadium.

The pupils also enjoyed the Barcelona V Valencia match on Sunday 17 April before experiencing the stadium and museum tour on Monday 18 April.

The pupils were a credit to themselves, the school and their families!

S5 Study Weekend

38 S5 pupils had a fantastic residential study weekend at New Lanark Youth Hostel from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 February 2016.

The pupils worked in small tutorial groups with members of staff from different subject areas to help them prepare for their SQA exams later this year.

Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere which made studying much easier. They couldn’t believe the amount of work they did! Well worth the time and effort!
