NLC Dragons’ Lair Enterprise Competition

NLC Dragons’ Lair Enterprise Competition

All S3 Business pupils took part in heats for North Lanarkshire’s Dragons’ Lair enterprise competition. Pupils had to work in teams to come up with a new and innovative idea for a product or service.

The winners from each class were then pitted against each other to find an overall winner who would represent the school at the competition.

The winning team were Sophie Currie, Aimee Lowe & Emma Williamson who came up with the idea of a pillow containing a MP3 speaker so you could listen to your favourite songs, audio book or podcast while lying on your bed or the sofa.

The girls attended a session the Airdrie Business Centre where they had to complete a business plan to explain their idea in more detail. We are waiting to hear if the girls’ idea has made it through to the final – good luck!

During the week beginning 26 September pupils in Modern Languages celebrated the European Day of Languages.

Pupils from S1-S6 were involved in a superb range of fun activities including Eurovision Song Contests, Euroquizzes and a Europe project for S1. In addition our Senior pupils enjoyed a cultural afternoon watching French and Spanish films involving Spanish Civil War, life in Columbia and la gastronomie! Our Chinese pupils even joined in with our celebrations and looked at the European countries in Mandarin!

This was a great opportunity to discuss with pupils the importance of language learning and its many benefits particularly in the world of work. A great week was had by pupils and staff!modern languages
