A group of pupils visited The Glasgow Science Centre on Monday 25 June as a reward for their participation in the S1 Science Club.
The visit included the ‘Lego Mindstorms Driving Test’ workshop and a visit to the ‘Optical Illusions’ section.
The pupils used their problem solving skills to complete a series of challenges which they all did exceptionally well. A great day was had by all!
The S3 Personal Development class recently enjoyed a very successful trip to the Falkirk Wheel and The Kelpies.
The pupils enjoyed the boat ride at the Falkirk Wheel which lifted the boat up 35m in the air from the Forth and Clyde Canal to join the Union Canal for a short time, before returning back down again. The journey was accompanied with a commentary telling you the history of the Falkirk Wheel and the surrounding area.
After this adventure, we made our way to the Kelpies, where we were given a guided tour which took us inside Duke, one of the Kelpies. We also learned how Arria “The Angel of the Nauld” was designed by the same Glaswegian sculptor Andy Scott. Then we had fun in the Adventure Park before heading back to school. Everyone had a great day on a unique and highly memorable trip.

Congratulations to our S6 students on their successful completion of the Caritas Programme. We were delighted to join over 1200 young people from across Scotland at a fantastic event in the Clyde Auditorium on 7 June.
24 of our S6 students received their awards at the ceremony, having undertaken a range of activities to develop their faith in a practical and spiritual way over the last year. As Archbishop Tartaligia said, ‘Today is recognition that Catholic Schools are not just good for Catholics but indeed good for Scotland.’ Well done to everyone involved.
Congratulations to our school chaplain Father McKay who has recently been installed to the Chapter of Canons of the Archdiocese of Glasgow in recognition of his commitment and service to the Church.
Congratulations also to our former chaplain Father White (now Canon White) and former parish priest of St Lucy’s Parish Father McAuley (now Canon McAuley) who were installed at the same time.
29 S5/6 pupils have recently returned from a very successful 3 night trip to Iceland. During the trip the pupils got the opportunity to see the land of fire and ice in all its glory.
The trip included visits to glaciers, geysirs, volcanoes, waterfalls and plate boundaries as well as time in the most Northern capital city in the World, Reykjavik. Iceland sits on the Mid – Atlantic ridge and this results in some of the most amazing and spectacular scenery found anywhere. Being only a 2 hour flight away means that all these wonderful experiences are easily accessible to our pupils. The 29 pupils who attended spoke very positively about the trip. The pupils were a credit to themselves, their families and to the school.
All of our S3 Geography pupils recently enjoyed a very successful trip to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.
The pupils took part in a variety of activities such as field sketching and a river study at Rest and Be Thankful. They also carried out environmental surveys and questionnaires at the Lomond Shores centre in Balloch. Everyone had a great day and we were very lucky to enjoy fabulous weather on the bonny banks of Loch Lomond!

Our first ever Family Launch Evening took place on Monday 15 May to formally kick off our Belfast Experience. This allowed all parents/carers of the 31 pupils participating on the trip to receive information and to participate in various activities relating to the Titanic, including a STEM Activity, as well as investigating and researching. The evening was a resounding success with fantastic feedback received.
The Trip to Belfast took place on Tuesday 22 May leaving Our Lady’s at 7.30 am and returning at 12.30 am the next morning. The trip consisted of travelling to Cairnryan, hopping on the ferry to Belfast and then visiting the Titanic Exhibition and HMS Caroline. It was a phenomenal day with pupils’ behaviour, attitude, etc outstanding!! The pupils were a credit to their families.
To complete our Belfast experience, we had a Family Presentation Evening on Tuesday 29 May for all pupils and members of their families. This consisted of pupils in their groups presenting their experiences of the Belfast Trip. This included powerpoints, photographs and personal experiences. The evening, again was a resounding success with fantastic feedback received.
All pupils in S1 participated in the S1 Commonwealth Games Event hosted by the PE Department on Thursday 24 May.
St John Ogilvie House as ‘Team India’ were crowned winners after 15 gruelling events which included athletics, rugby, tug of war and many more. There were stand out performers in all events but all pupils were winners on the day and a credit to Our Lady’s. Congratulations to them all !
