School Uniform Day

Hi Boys and Girls,

Along with lots of other schools in the Coatbridge cluster, we thought we would do a Uniform Day (as opposed to a non uniform day) on Thursday 21st May,  just as a little bit of fun for all of our pupils.

So look out your Old Monkland Uniforms and we would love to see your pictures in your class team. We would love to see as many of your pictures as possible and we could create a whole school video collage of your pictures.

Stay Safe

Logging in to Oxford Owl

Resilience Alphabet

Good Morning everyone, I hope you  are well and  had a lovely weekend even though the weather wasn’t very nice. Hopefully the sunshine will come back soon! Its another week of home learning for us all and new learning grids have been posted for you here and in your class team.

Sumdog
I have created new Spelling and Grammar challenges for you this week. Remember the Maths challenge is for you to take part in the NLC competition, you can join in at anytime.

Oxford Owl
I have created a new class login for you to use on Oxford Owl, instructions for logging in and accessing e books are attached above. This week I would like you to read 2 books, ‘Winnie and Wilbur Stay at home‘ and ‘Everybody Worries‘. The Winnie and Wilbur story has some suggested activities that you can find on Page 2-3. For ‘Everybody Worries’, you could try some of the activities suggested on Page 22-23.

Resilience Alphabet
In these strange and challenging times, its important for us all to talk about how we are feeling. Choose a different letter of the Resilience Alphabet everyday and complete the activities. You can do them in any order you like, I hope you enjoy them!
I would love to see more of you log into Teams this week, take care everyone and remember to get in touch anytime, I would love to hear from you.

P7 18.5.20

Good morning P7!

You will see that Mr Henderson has posted our new learning grid in a post below this one. It is also available on our class Team. It has been great to see some of you come and join us in our class Team! If you would like some support getting set up, please let me or Mr Henderson know.

I know many of you will be thinking about the high school! This week we have the first of our transition tasks: OMPS Transition Task 1 Over the next few weeks there will be lots of opportunity to think about high school. Remember you can ask any questions in the comments section here or over on our Team.

Sumdog

This week I have set our usual spelling tasks on Sumdog. I have not set any specific maths work, but that is because our class has been entered into the North Lanarkshire Sumdog contest this week. It would be great to see as many of you as possible taking part!

Numeracy

One of the tasks on our new home learning grids is to create some multiplication and division sums of your own. This week I have made some as an example for you to complete at home.

Primary 2/3

Happy Monday Primary 2/3

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. What have you all been up to?

Microsoft Teams

From today we will begin using Microsoft Teams to stay in touch and deliver tasks for you to try at home. If you have not yet tried to access Teams please try to log in and leave a wee comment. Let us know if you need any assistance in getting set up. Old Learning Grids and associated worksheets are already loaded onto our Teams and I can see some people have managed to download these from our Files. Over the weekend I posted the new Learning Grid for the next few weeks along with associated worksheets. These can be found in the ‘Learning Grids’ and ‘Instructions and Worksheets’ folders in the Files section. I have pinned the latest Learning Grid to the top of its folder. I will be available through teams to answer questions you have or to keep in touch. I have been missing you all and it is so lovely to hear how you have been getting on and see pictures too. Each group’s taught sounds and common words are also available from our Files. I will still be posting tasks here on the website too so if you are having trouble with Teams you can still access them.

New Home Learning Tasks

Our new Learning Grid has 4 Literacy tasks, 4 Maths tasks, 4 Health and Wellbeing tasks and 4 tasks which include focuses from our past topics, Australia and Dinosaurs. There’s also French, Science, Dance and ICT tasks too. Remember you can dip in and out of the current and previous Learning Grids if there are tasks you particularly enjoy. I will also continue to post wee activities you might enjoy now and then. I know I’ve spent a lot of time cooking and dancing in my kitchen to keep me busy when I’m not working. I also quite fancy building a den in my living room!

Sum Dog Winners

This week’s Sum Dog leader boards have been jam packed with fantastic scores, I have been so impressed! Here are last week’s winners.

Maths – Cal with 350 correct answers. Well done to Kroy, Leo, Grace Samantha, Mia and Charlie who also answered over 250 questions correctly!
Grammar – Samantha with 208 correct answers. Well done to Charlie, Grace and Mia who also answered over 150 questions correctly!
Blue Spelling Group – Daniel
Pink Spelling Group – Leo
Green Spelling Group – Lilly

Well done to everyone who took part in these challenges.

Sum Dog Challenges

This week’s Maths challenge is the North Lanarkshire Council Contest. The last day for this is 21st May at 8pm. We need 10 people in our class to take part for us to appear on the leader board. At the minute 8 have joined in so we’re almost there! I have still created Spelling and Grammar challenges for this week. These end on Friday at 12 noon.
Remember, Sum Dog challenges are optional and you can take part in as little or a much as you like.

I look forward to hearing from you all on Teams!

Home Learning – 18th May

Good morning Primary 5/6,

How are we all today? I hope you had a great weekend and are all well. I am very impressed with the hard work lots of you are doing. You are all doing so well and I know it can be hard to get your school work done at home sometimes.

Today we are launching Microsoft Teams to help you at home with your learning. Mr Henderson has posted information on how to access this through Glow. On our page, I have set up folders under the file tab which has all of the work I have previously posted through Glow. You will find our new Home Learning Grid and this week’s spelling tasks. I have created a quiz on Microsoft Teams focussing on Australia. I hope you like it!

Today I am going to create a folder for each of you that will allow you to upload any pictures or tasks. This will be in a folder called Class Work. Last week, Kara posted lots of great work and Aimiee posted pictures of scones she had made! Well done girls!

I have also added you to Sumdog’s North Lanarkshire Maths Contest where at least ten people from our class need to play to compete with other classes. This contest finishes on the 21st of May at 8pm.

On our new Home Learning Grid, there is a new website for reading called EPIC. This website lets you access over 40,000 books and has thousands of Read-to-Me books, Audiobooks, educational videos and fun quizzes. I have attached instructions below on how to access EPIC Reading. You will need our class code which is on our Grid and then you click your little character with your name. The book I have assigned you all is called “Exploring Countries: Australia”. You can all let me know what you think of this. If you have any problems let me know and I will try my best to help you!
