School Dinners

At Newmains Primary we serve lunch in our dining hall. The canteen offers a variety of healthy options as well as sandwiches, fruit, cakes, yoghurts and drinks. A full school meal costs £3 and the value of a free dinner school meal is £3 which includes 10p for a carton of milk. There is a vegetarian option available each day.

The menu changes each term and will be given out to pupils and can be accessed online too. https://www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/school-meals/meal-menus/primary-school-menu

We operate a cashless canteen and parents can “top up” cards online to pay for school meals, see our parent page for a guide on how to do this.

As of August 2021, all Primary 1-4 pupils are entitled to a free school meal. Information and application forms for free school meals may be obtained from first stop shops or can be downloaded here.

All school dinner pupils eat together in the school dining hall, and pupils having a home packed lunch sit in the activity hall. This is extremely beneficial for children who prefer a quieter lunch experience.

We operate a rolling lunch over a number of sittings, although at present we operate a staggered lunch break.
