Homework Survey

Supporting Learning at Home / Homework Policy, January 2017

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope that you have enjoyed the Christmas and New Year period and have had a relaxing time.

Now that we are back at school, I am reviewing the school homework policy in conjunction with our School Improvement Plan.

In August 2017, a homework pilot was tried whereby the pupils in P4-P7 were issued with a monthly homework grid. The grid included various activities to support Literacy, Numeracy, Health and Well Being and Inter-disciplinary areas of the curriculum. The grid included opportunities for pupil choice and flexibility.

To enable us to review the school homework policy, and decide the best way forward to support learning at home, I would be grateful if you would take a few moments to complete a short survey which can be accessed using the following link;

THE SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO ALL PARENTS WHO CONTRIBUTED.

Thank you for your continued support

We have now updated our school twitter policy, a copy of which was given to pupils several weeks ago.

At the bottom of the policy you will find a tear off slip which should be returned to your child’s class teacher asap.  This confirms that:

  1. Your child’s photo is allowed to be uploaded onto twitter by the school.
  2. Confirms your own twitter account details, in order for us to accept your follower’s request.  Please note that our twitter account is now private.

NewmainsPSNursery Twitter Policy for Parents August 2017

Welcome Back!

A big welcome back to all of our pupils, parents and carers. We hope that you had a very relaxing holiday.  Our new Primary 1 children have settled in very well and are very enthusiastic to learn.  They are a credit to their parents/carers and to their new school.

The majority of our pupils are looking smart by wearing full school uniforms.  This promotes positive identities and a sense of community within our school, which turn leads to positive ethos and behaviour.  Thank you for your support which we hope continues throughout the year.

Please remember that all pupils should wear their full kit to PE and must include a change into gym shoes.  All jewellery should be removed prior to participating in PE.  PE days will be advised by individual class teachers.

In line with our Dental Health Policy, can we please remind you avoid sending pupils to school with fizzy drinks for snack and lunch.  Please also note that plain water only is allowed in the classroom.

Our weblog drop down menus will be updated over the course of the next few weeks and we appreciate your patience as we carry this out.  Please continue to regularly check our blog, twitter account and monthly newsletters for regular updates/information.

Thank you for your continued support.
