A curriculum rationale is a explanation of why we teach what we do at school. It helps parents and pupils understand how the subjects and activities we choose support children’s learning, development, and future success. It also shows how our teaching fits with national guidelines, meets the needs of our pupils, and reflects the values of our school. In short, it explains how our curriculum helps every child to enjoy learning and reach their full potential.
Our curriculum rationale at Newmains Primary was developed with the help of feedback from our whole school community. We carried out surveys with parents, staff, and children to understand what matters most to them in education. Their views have helped shape a curriculum that reflects our shared values, supports our children’s needs, and makes learning meaningful, enjoyable, and relevant for everyone.
