Mrs N’s Notes, 29.4.22

PLEASE REMEMBER, SCHOOL & NURSERY WILL BOTH BE CLOSED TO PUPILS NEXT MONDAY AND THURSDAY, DUE TO THE BANK HOLIDAY AND IN-SERVICE DAY.

Week 3 menus next week, but remember we are only here on 3 days.

ASSEMBLY FOCUS

This week at Assembly we had a focus on Deaf Awareness Week which starts on 2nd May.  Why not ask your child to show you how to sign along to a well-known Toy Story song?  We also had 2 girls from Room 15 having a full conversation through signing.  Many thanks to Ms Watson for the enthusiasm she has shared with these pupils, encouraging them to learn more!

Please remember that the Gold Book is up and running!  If you would like to nominate your child, ask them to bring home a Gold Book form.

Next Friday will be our first Inter House Dance & Gymnastics competition.  Mr Sharp is making a final list of participants today.

FUNDRAISING

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our Nursery Sponsor this week.  Not only did they manage to raise lots of money for nursery funds, but everyone also had loads of fun.  Money is still coming in, but we will give you a grand total very soon!

This week we launched the Parent Council Summer Raffle appeal.  If you are able to contribute an item to your child’s class hamper, we would be most grateful.  We will be accepting donations up until 13th May.  MANY THANKS to those who have contributed already.

PARENT COUNCIL

Your Parent Council met on Monday of this week and they plan to meet again on Monday 23rd May at 7pm for the AGM.  This meeting will take place on line.  Please contact a member of the Parent Council or the school office if you want to attend.

PARENTS NIGHT

We have permission to plan in-person parent appointments this term. These are planned for Thursday 19th May.  If you are not comfortable meeting face-to-face yet, please let us know and we will make sure we accommodate you.

WORLD OF WORK

Starting on 9th May, our P.6 pupils will have the opportunity to work with tutors from New College Lanarkshire on a range of vocational subjects.  This short course will run for 6 weeks on a Monday.  We look forward to giving you an update very soon!

FOOTBALL FESTIVAL

We were delighted to take part in the first Cluster Football Festival this  year!  Mr Gall was blown away with the effort and sportsmanship shown by all participating.  (He was also thrilled to report we were undefeated on the day!)  Well done all – fabulous ambassadors for our school community.

I hope you have a lovely long weekend and we’ll see you all back at the normal times on Tuesday morning.
