Transition

Transition is just another word for change.  Pupils transition between lessons several times during any school day, but at certain points in a child’s learning journey, bigger transitions need to be carefully managed.

Each year classes change and with that can come unfamiliar teachers, new classmates, different learning environments and sometimes a change of playground.  Each of these factors can cause some learners periods of anxiety.  At the end of every school session the Kirkshaws staff will liaise with each other to ensure your child is supported and challenged appropriately academically, socially and emotionally.   Wherever possible, your child will have the opportunity to spend time with their new teacher in their future classroom before the end of June.

However, there are some points where transition involves even greater changes.  Use the drop-down menu to see how we plan to support your child through their introduction to Nursery, Primary and Secondary education.
