Mathematics

Welcome to the Mathematics Department

Mathematics is important for everyday life, allowing us to make sense of the world around us and manage our lives. It equips us with the skills to interpret information, solve problems, assess risk and make informed decisions. Having well-developed Numeracy skills also helps us manage everyday life and contribute effectively to society through the world of work.

Teachers in the Department are:

Mr Campbell (Co-ordinator), Miss Brown,  Mrs Ferrie, Mrs Hall, Miss Harris, Mrs McManus and Miss Scott.

Our Departmental aims:

  • To teach the key skills in Mathematics and Numeracy.
  • To track pupil progress in these areas.
  • To use a wide range of resources and approaches to cater for the individual needs of our pupils.
  • To promote enjoyment and choice within the Mathematics and Numeracy curriculum.
  • To involve our pupils in their own learning through active learning experiences, self and peer evaluation and target setting.
  • To meet with, inform and report to parents.
  • To help pupils become number-confident and be able to transfer and apply mathematical and numerical skills to real life situations, including everyday life, lifelong learning experiences and the world of work.
  • To contribute to the ethos and wider life of the school.

Courses being delivered this year:

S1 – S3 Broad and General Education Phase
