During years 1, 2 and 3 the pupils follow a plan of practical work designed to increase their:

Cooking skills and ability.

Knowledge of food stuffs and their impact on the human body.

Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety.

For all pupils this is very much a practical class and they show their learning and improvement via the food they produce and how they complete these cookery tasks. During this period we look at the themes of Halloween, World War 2, Christmas, Burns Supper, Advertising, Healthy Eating and Textiles.
