Pupil Council

Firpark Secondary School Council

The School Council involves pupils in decisions which affect them, their class and the school. It keeps pupils informed about the life of the school and helps them to gain confidence in having their say. Each member has roles and responsibilities and is encouraged to be an active citizen.

Councillors bring issues to the meetings which have been reported to them by their registration class. During meetings, important issues are discussed, ideas are shared and action points decided. The aim is for the discussions to be orderly and fair, with everyone having an equal opportunity to talk or be listened to. All the School Councillors show respect for each other. After the meeting, the members of the School Council will inform their class what was discussed and what action points were decided.

The School Council is made up of one pupil from each registration class. Pupils were asked if they would like to put their names forward; they then had to explain to their class why they would be a good representative and then the class voted on who they would like to see as their School Council member.
